Their stuff is beautiful and works beautifully in the game. If EA made items of this quality for Sims 3, they'd sell a whole lot more in their online Store. Instead, they rush out Sims 3 items with the minimum of detail.
^Their stuff is always going to have that sort of feeling to it, because it has to be EA-match. I don't think Store stuff is really all that minimally detailed, it's just sort of cartoony...because that's exactly the effect they are looking for. You'd think that by now they'd know that cartoony isn't what most downloaders want, but I guess they want Store stuff to have the same feel as the stuff that comes with the game, which is traditionally like that.
As for this set, I agree with firstanon. It looks really nice, even though it's not really my style. I love the lamp, though.
I'd have to disagree, myself. The metal parts don't mix well with the well-done shading and mapping on the wood and cloth parts, and since the metal parts aren't mapped very well, you can't replace the metal parts with a different texture- the closest you'll get is changing color. Granted, I'm picky about those things, since my downloads folder is overflowing nowadays with great downloads!
(Also, I dislike that they have pay items, but that's aside the point.)
