  2. Meh, I like the overall idea of the hair, but not how wispy it is. It also seems a bit high on the head. =(

  3. Looks dirty, but overall cute.

  4. Instead of paying for this, I think I'm going to go sit in my backyard and burn money. That'd probably be a better investment.

Normally I like Newsea's hair, but this is absolute crap.

  5. anubis could you retexture it? ;-)
and to Joe and Co (the readers), theres a petition on thesims3.com to bring more of a ts1 charm to ts3, if any one is interested in signing the petition heres the link: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/105970.page

  7. I've just got it.
It looks uhm.. yeah dirty, but still i love having almost all of the hairs in my game. xD
I like it on adults, but on childs it looks like a wig.

  12. Hairs that appear to be constantly flowing in a mini tornado situated in the center of the sim's head are weird. It'd be nice if it was just a plain long hair. Does anyone know where to find such a thing? Super super long hair, but without...uh...this?

    <_<

  13. I kind of like it for my psycho sims. Or my 'wishes they were in a Norwegian death metal band' sims.

  14. Hair fail
    Newsea lost

    ReplyDelete
  15. Um ... wow, this didn't come out right!! It's all kinds of weird in the back; like it's pulled up and pushed back or something. And that wisp of hair in front of the face is just too annoying :\ ... Too bad, because I can see the potential of it, but it just wasn't well executed.

  16. They both look like crazy people with the hair o_O. It could have been cute, just something went a little wrong here and there...

    ReplyDelete
  17. First newsea hair that I trully hate. It looks like the sims hadn't washed their hairs in months D:

    ReplyDelete
  18. This shit is the most horrible NewSea could have done !
    Yurk !

    ReplyDelete
  19. It looks a lot like my hair in the mornings, still halfdry after the shower and before I pull it up into it's usual knot. Really ugly in the mirror and not something I want on a sim. But perhaps it is what an elf looks like after a run through a very dense forrest? Or a homeless sim after the monthly wash with a very cheap schampoo? There isn't a single thing I like about this.

    ...as usual.

    ReplyDelete
  22. rhiannon what are you talking about? what history has been proven? You talking bout tsr spreading people's crap around? thats a thesims3.com "petition" and you just say you agree, how hard is that?

    ReplyDelete
  23. This is a hot mess

    ReplyDelete
  24. It would be a nice hair to pair with Pjs. :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. This hair should've been the one called "When They Cry" instead of the other one because any Sim wearing this would immediately burst into tears for having this on their head.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think Rhiannon was talking about this huge list of names released by TSR with people's name, email, address, etc. Several thought they were signing an innocent petition and TSR actually used it to label them as "pirates" and spread their info.

    http://tsr.mustbedestroyed.org/?p=858

    ReplyDelete
  27. "You knew it was coming! We want the humor, objects, NPCs, and surprises from TS1, and all the expansions, that we miss soo much! (P.S. We love the music too!) "

I just checked out that petition and it's fucking stupid. Yes, this game could be greatly improved, but do any of you whining about wanting things from "all the expansions" in TS1 and/or 2 have any idea how much that would cause this game to suffer? If they put everything you wanted PLUS all the expansions that would 1. make the game so bloated that it would take up over 50 GB of hard drive space alone, 2. require a computer that wouldn't be ready to handle it until TS4 was released, and 3. multiply the current glitches 100-fold, if not greater.

There are already 11 freaking patches and the game hasn't even been out a year. Do you know how many more patches they'd have to release, things that would break, and things that would just enter utter chaos if all you wanted was included?

    ReplyDelete
  28. ^ Holy shit. I never really sat down to think about it, but 11 patches in a game that's not even a year old is horrifying. EA clearly doesn't give a crap about the maintenence of this game, or there wouldn't be 11 FREAKING PATCHES.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I know, right? Ea CLEARLY doesn't care whether or not the game works. That's why they...fix it...so...much.

quit your bitching about patches you morons, patches are a good thing fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

  30. "quit your bitching about patches you morons, patches are a good thing fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff"

For those who don't understand why people dislike Claeric or are offended by him, it is this type of condescending rudeness right here.

Also, you can get a load of it all over this MTS thread:

    http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=389285&c=1&ht=&page=1&pp=25#startcomments

If you read his responses in that thread (there are several more out there like it), you will see that he really is a nasty piece of work and constantly attacks people in the worst way possible.

This thread explains why he was banned:

    http://forums.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=380187

    From HystericalParoxysm:

"After many, many, many chances to be nice and to behave himself, Claeric has been permanently banned. It's not the point you make, it's the tone you use, and Claeric's was almost always confrontational, abrasive, and rude. He was capable of being nicer, yet chose not to. And thus, he is gone and never to return."

I have NEVER seen Jenipunch be rude to anyone here. Calling her a "moron" and being nasty to her was completely uncalled for. Glad to see your true colors showing through again so people can see you for the asshole you are.

  31. ^Patches are a good thing, a game with the need for SO MANY patches withing the space of a year is NOT a good thing. Its utterly ridiculous. Oh and don't get me started on the faulty game destroying patches that were inflicted on the unexpecting fans, you think they are a good thing? You sir are a dumb-ass.

    ReplyDelete
  32. ^ I think you can all guess who that was meant for ;)

I went through some of pages you posted just out of curiosity. Claeric is a lamb compared to some people I post with. Yes, he seems pretty blunt and lacks some charm, but he knows what he's talking about (in most cases)and I respect people who stick by their opinions. I think people need to grow thicker skins.

Oh, and Jeni can take care of herself. She's a big girl. No need to use her as an excuse to call someone an asshole.

@Claeric: There's this Peggy one for both males and females:

  52. Unfortunately all of those are pretty bleh. :p The newsea ones are good enough, though, I suppose. Though last I knew Newsea hairs were humongous files and sometimes error-causing, is that still true? I mean, that first one is a FOUR PART FILE for some stupid reason, I dunno if they can be trusted.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Newsea's hairs is hard to get them free!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I've never gotten any errors. As for the large files, my computer eats those for breakfast. Nah, just kidding. I'm in the process of merging all my crap together and praying to the sim gods it'll stop my lag. I'm such a CC junkie.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Annihilation created some long hairs. Really, really long. It's on her TSR account.
Newsea's hairs have four parts since they convert it for toddlers and children as well. As least, that's what I'm guessing. And I haven't gotten any errors as far as I know, but my game is slow as all Hell.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Epi, I'm in the same situation. I have waaaay too much CC and it's starting to take a toll.

The hair is...interesting. It had a lot of potential, but the flyaway tendrils seem to have a life of their own. No download for me.

    Yes. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I believe it was discovered that the amount of CC means nothing during in-game play, and that slowdown in-game is the result of bloated or improperly made CC. I'd recomment looking for conflicts with the dashboard and then using Process Monitor to make sure nothing is going crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  60. ^I haven't noticed any in-game slowdown, just loading slowdown. I use both the Dashboard and ProcMon. :)

Exactly. Besides if EA cared about what the consumer wanted they would not have taken 3 months to answer just ONE of 6 complaint tickets I sent in regarding some serious screwups, like putting the MAC version of HEL up on their site for download that was "missing" several critical files required to run the expansion pack. Missing software files. Who does that? It's like building a car and forgetting to put on the wheels.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Patches are a good thing. I'd rather have a ton of patches that fix something here and there than 1 or 2 ginormous patches that made me wait months for something little to get fixed or changed :) Lots of patches is a good thing. EA's problem is that their patches break what a previous patch fixed (like families no longer being safe from random deaths or moving out if you switch households for a day. And HEL breaking CC hair on Macs again after WA fixed it.).

    Lots of patches = good
EA patches = monkeys could do a better job

    ReplyDelete
  63. ^Correct on both points.

    ReplyDelete
  64. "And HEL breaking CC hair on Macs again after WA fixed it."

DEAR GOD. I cannot express the anguish I felt, as a custom content hair addict, when I realized that they had somehow managed to re-break it.

Anyway. Sorry for the off-topic comment. ;)

Um...people only FIX things when things are BROKEN. That doesn't make patches a "good thing" in so much as it makes patches the very least that you deserve for having spent your money. It does not, however, inspire much faith in a company that should have gotten more right the first time around.

  66. PC games are complicated as hell. A PC game with the internal structure of The Sims 3 is even more complicated because it basically runs itself in real time with an enormous amount of user-defined and randomly defined variables to deal with. No games do that. No games out there have a world that lives like the one in this game. You clearly don't understand how ridiculous it is to expect that to run perfectly at all times.

You are LUCKY to even HAVE the game, god damnit. They do not serve you. They are not horrible monsters for releasing PATCHES. Nor are they incompetent morons for not releasing a game that functions 100% perfectly.

You find me a PC game with gameplay and such as complicated as the sims 3, that functions 100% perfectly out of the box, or even years down the line with patches, and I will do something outlandish and insane that emphasises how unlikely it is that you could do that.

Some games from 12 freaking years ago recently got a patch or two, for christs sake.

No game breaking bugs exist anymore anyway, and any that do are the result of incompetence on the part of the user regarding custom content. So as long as you're a competent user, you can play the game just fine with nothing but minor inconvenience, if even that.

Personally, I have barely any noticable issues. Those I do have are completely inconsequential.

And since I'm not an entitled little girl, it doesn't bother me that, heaven forbid, there might be an inconsequential glitch that does not adversely affect gameplay in any way whatsoever in my game.

Seriously. There are no game breaking bugs anymore. You can play the game just fine. You are on a blog for content for the game daily so you clearly enjoy it. Yet it's still somehow an affront to your very being as a person that they make patches for the game and that there are minor bugs to be fixed? Really, get over yourself.

This applies to everyone with such thoughts on patches, not just you. This is information you people need to hear and try to comprehend. Because the whining is just ridiculous.

    now watch this video.

My husband is a programmer and I am fully aware of what goes into game coding.

You are LUCKY to even HAVE the game, god damnit. They do not serve you.

Damn straight they do. I pay my money. They give me a product. I'm not into that "bow down before King EA purchasing peon as I bless and annoint you with my greatest creation ever" mentality. I love the game but this is not about some movie love affair. This is about good business and customer service and the customer is always right.

    ReplyDelete
  68. The customer most certainly is not always right. 98% of the time the customer is an idiot who needs to shut up and get over their ridiculous sense of entitlement.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I know things are getting a bit heated, but for some reason all of this making me laugh.

I agree with both of you. I feel like EA should have worked a bit more on the major glitches before releasing the game, but at the same time, games need patches now and then. Although, I've never played a game that needed this many patches in such a short amount of time. But then again, I've never played a game as detailed as this.

Although I find it annoying to patch, I sucked it up because I think it's worth it. And no matter how much I'd like to complain, the fact is, my game play would be pretty boring and glitchy without them. Not to mention my complaining wouldn't really effect EA in any way.

No, I don't bother to look at the subscriber only sections since I only go there to download the free stuff and to check out any new "pay" stuff that I might want to acquire later. ;) So I'll have to take your word on what TSR makes subscribers have to pay for.

  79. Off topic but a lot of the comments seems to be. Not all 11 patches have primarily been about repairing the game. The one with the ingame shopping and the one with the cellar building tools comes to mind. I think the extra facial sliders in CAS was in that patch as well.

For future reference, I don't do heated. :-) Personally, taking comments posted here personally or more serious than is warranted is ludicrous. Nor do I feel any animosity or hold a grudge against anyone who may respond rudely. They make their point, I make my point, and I don't care how. End of story.

I agree with both of you. I feel like EA should have worked a bit more on the major glitches before releasing the game, but at the same time, games need patches now and then.

Note that I said "a company that should have gotten MORE right the first time around" and not "ALL right the first time around" Anything else said in response to my comments was conjecture and assumption on the behalf of the commenter. Of course there are going to be patches and of course I want to install them so my game works properly. I actually didn't say I had a problem with patches. But I do have a problem with patches that bork the things that were working prior to the patch and require another patch to patch the patch. How's that for illiteration. Besides, my bigger concern is over the fact that their customer service SUCKS and I think I made that clear. The least they could do is get that part right. I imagine that's why they have customer service agents in the first place.

The user not patching is not the point I am making, but whatever.

Not to mention my complaining wouldn't really effect EA in any way.

Which is why they get away with this crap.

Anyway, thanks for your comments and attempting to see both sides. As for me? Rant off. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  82. "98% of the time the customer is an idiot who needs to shut up"

Claeric, calm down already. Nobody is telling you you can't have your own opinion here, so why are you telling other people they can't have theirs? And no, I have not yet posted in this thread.

I paid $50 for a game that doesn't run properly on my mac when patched. If you don't patch, the launcher does not work. If you call my expectations idiotic, you must have fairly low expectations as a consumer.

    ReplyDelete
  83. ^He's not saying that, and for what it's worth, to a certain extent I think he's right.

You have right to have high expectations, as all consumers do, but sometimes people expect more than a company is capable of giving. And sometimes they break stuff on their own, and then proceed to blame it on the company. EA breaks stuff from time to time, we all know that. But the vast majority of the problems I hear people talking about are user issues. EA can't be expected to keep up with all the computer setups, the exponentially rising number of possible CC combinations, or the ways that each individual sets up their towns and their sims.

I know I would HATE to be the tech guy who fields calls from the average simmer; have you been to the Exchange at all? Even here, where presumably the average person knows a lot more about how there game works and probably knows about MATY and MTS and other sites, we still see people asking unbelievable questions and displaying a complete lack of understanding about how the game actually works. I'm not berating them or something, I'm just stating a fact.

I'm not saying that EA is blameless. EA is a faceless giant corporation out for nothing more than money, and they have been known to rush through products, patches and content in an attempt to see the dollars flow in a little sooner. But still. Time and time again, I see people complaining that "EA broke my stuff" when in all actuality they broke it themselves.

Not in my case. I know more about computer-slash-software coding and workarounds than the average person in general and the average game player specifically. And I know, I know more than EA's customer service agents who, I kid you not, didn't have a clue what I was talking about and had to forward my ticket to a senior agent. I mean, missing HEL files? Please. Imagine installing Windows 7 only to discover the CD is missing files required to install and run it. THAT is unacceptable.

    ReplyDelete
  86. ^I wasn't saying you were doing that. I just said that I see it happen all the time. :)

And yes, as I acknowledged, EA has issues as well. I just get tired of hearing people complain when THEY are the ones messing things up. That's not at all to say that EA doesn't mess things up, too.
