Thanks Shyne, you're a doll <3

Woah. I don't hate it! Now I'm definitely getting this hair.

It looks much better now, but still, I'm going to have to pass.

Is it only retextured for females? Or for males too?

Anonymous said...

Why is newseas version required?

Anonymous said...

^ Yeah, wasn't this free? Newsea's version shouldn't be required.

GAH I ADORE THESE TEXTURES.

It is newsea's own textures you idiot! Shyne just made it brighter or lighter to allow for blonds to not have that black root syndrome. Read the title brighten and recontrol by shyne not retexture by shyne.

I need a male version, thanks though, looks great

Anonymous said...

Pretty! Can you do it for males and kids too?

Looks great, but I do wish there was a way to fix the hairline... It gives my sims no foreheads, unfortunately.

Awesome job Shyne. Thanks for fixing the hair, it looks so much better now.

No worries guys :) You need the original Newsea Mesh because that's the only way you can CHANGE Newsea hairs - using the same method to retexture, say, a Peggy hair doesn't result in the same outcome - it just makes the hairs disappear in CAS. I also only retexture FREE Newsea hairs because that way T$R can't claim that I'm breaching any copyrights.

And yes, I will definitely do this for all ages and genders, I just wanted to make sure people liked it first :)

Thanks for all your lovely comments.

How have you been Shyne / LME / Freckles / BriddyG ?

^ I was wondering when someone would finally bring up that old argument again... Hadn't seen it in a while.

Anyway. This is actually the first hair you've done something to that I've really liked enough to get (no offense). Thanks.

What is that old argument about? Like accuse that Shyne is the same person as Little miss epic? I love LME profile name, it's so cute and like gives powerful vibe.

That isn't true. MissBonBon retextured quite a few Newsea hairs, and you don't have to have the original Newsea version for them to work.

before or after he went to TSR?

Anonymous said...

AARG I WANT THE FRIGGING MALE VERSION!!!

Anonymous said...

^ yea me too, i think this would be a great hair for males

Anonymous said...

MissBonBon did both TSR Newsea hairs, and pre-TSR Newsea hairs.

Shyne said...

I don't know how MissBonBon did it with the current T$R files, this is the only method I know of to retexture T$R hairs. I feel that MissBonBon is much better at hair files than I am :)

This is nice, but I really want it for males. D:

Shyne, you dont need the package file of the newsea hair for the texture to override it. If you have the hair installed via sims3pack and place the hair retexture/edit in the overrides folder, it will still override the original hair without the original package in the folder with it. aWT explained this on their blog. So don't be scared to retexture pay hair, as long you're not distributing the original hair you're doing nothing wrong.

It's more the fact that if I retexture a pay hair, it involves other people getting the original pay hair in order to use my version. It's like saying you need to pay for something to use my version... and I don't think that's fair on anyone. That's why I don't want to do pay hairs, because if I did it by giving out a 'free' version of a pay hair that would technically be stealing, and I really don't like to tread on morally gray ground, especially when T$R is involved.
Put simply, I only want to retexture hairs that are free so that people don't have to pay for them to use my version (thought I'd better rephrase myself, since I tend to prattle).

I understand that Shyne but I mean, everyone and their mother knows how to get NewSea's TSR for free from a variety of sources. I honestly wouldn't be worried about this. Another thing being, NewSea only has so few free hairs, it feels like you're not getting to put you ability to actual use if you're only doing the odd free hair that he releases.

I understand... I will think on this. Ask some advice from other creators in the community. Thank you for your encouragement, anon :)

Angry poster, dear, I know, and I adore NewSea's textures. Your assumption of ignorance makes you look like an idiot.

Retexture NewSea hairs is not impossible, ageiha has been doing some here: http://ageiha.livejournal.com/6539.html
