  3. Hot Damn! Never thought I would see this again! Can't wait to try it. Time to build a lot.

  4. FAB
there are tricks to make these in build mode, but not perfect at all!

    these look perfect
i wonder why EA NEVER try to make this possible(so as round walls)

i will give it a try
    thanks

  5. Too bad this staircase has no animation, but nice try.

  6. And it has no floor mask either.

  7. "Too bad this staircase has no animation, but nice try."

It's that way for a reason. Gosik's pay version (which isn't due out for a few days) will have animation, but it will only have the EA spiral staircase one. This one was done so people have another option.

Until custom animations are perfected (and we're a long way off even though there was a rudimentary tool out), there won't be a true and realistic animation for staircases like these. But the fact that they worked together to create something like this that is the first of its kind is amazing in and of itself. It's certainly more than "nice try" when you consider how extremely hard it was to do this.

  8. The Sims 2 one didn't have animations either, don't know if that has changed, I haven't played Sims 2 since 2009. I rather have no animations than spiral stairs ones. That would bug me.

  9. Is it workable to separate the animation into three part? Stair>Walk>Stair?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Will Have to test to see how playable it is, but assuming it works as least to some degree it looks great =)

  11. "Gosik's pay version"
there isn't any pay version - they will be both free... the ones on TSR will be published today :)

  12. AMAZING!!!!!! I've wanted stairs like this forever. YAY!

  13. As long as they can go up and down the stairs, I don't care if they are properly animated.

It's like what happened with bunk beds at first, they weren't properly animated either. Maybe EA will steal the idea and animate it for the next EP.

Either way, the stairs are amazing.

  14. They don't need a floor mask. The only reason the spiral stairs did was because the cutout was round - they came with a round floor-edge frame - and you can't make a round hole in the floor manually. With these, you simply place or remove floor tiles to make the opening you prefer.

  15. Holy shit, that's awesome! I just read one of Inge's posts on MTS where she said she was working on this. Like the other commenter said, it's cool to see modders and meshers working together. Innovation, I love it.

  16. Wouldn't making new platforms at different heights make this plausible?

Only useful thing is the walls.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but people have been making "L" stairs and "U" stairs since release. WSe are on the sixth expansion and soon to be sixth stuff pack and we haven't had anything close that does not require CFE.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hi Vinnie. The main point of making this staircase is it could be useful for people who don't want to use foundations or dummy levels with CFE, which usually ends up with having warped walls that need hiding. This is primarily for building purists. People who are on the other hand animation purists will probably prefer to continue to use dummy levels and EA stairs.

  19. I prefer non warped walls as well and also like my game not "broken". I don't like my Sims clipping through objects like Gosik's stairs are going to be or warping from one floor to another with this version.

Making new platforms at different heights would solve this. I know Inge is better then this. If you think about it, they have something similar with the LN apartment shells. The walls aren't warped, or stretched to the second floor level.

  20. I have tried very hard to find out how different height stages could be modded, but so far have failed to find a way. Sorry :)

  21. If you are Inge: My post wasn't a slam against you or Gosik in general. I just don't download or install anything in my game. I avoid objects that sims clip through a lot. aka the TSR baby prams, the beds with large bases that extend further out then needed, those blankets/pillows that go over beds etc.

As for floor levels, I'm just saying in general. I wish I had a bit more experience I wish I could help out. I know you have the skills to find a solution :D

And I'm sorry to tell you that some people hate warped walls, so this is a nice option for those people. Besides you can use the space under the stairs, not like with your beloved U and L stairs. You want proper animation? then that's fine, keep your warped walls. Not everything was created specially for you.

  24. You all are lovely. My original post wasn't attacking the object or script.

Want to know something funny? I can USE the space under my "L" & "U" stairs. So it has nothing to do with your statement "not everything was created specially for you".

Also me saying "Only thing useful is the walls", it was "created specially for me" ;)

  25. It's wonderful. Just like the 1st edition of bunk beds. Thank you guys for taking the time to try something like this! You always have to start somewhere. Then if the desire to perfect it is strong, they will find a way to properly animate it. Until then it gives me other options for stairs.

  26. I LOVE this! Thank you so much! I have never been able to build these types of stairs so I THANK YOU both from the bottom of my heart. I just need these stairs!

  27. I had these stairs by Inge for TS2 and I loved them. This post alone has made my week. Thank you Inge and Gosik. I just want to dust off my game and build something right now!

  28. Thanks to both of you for your hard work on these. They look great and I look forward to using them.

  29. Some people just don't know how to appreciate good things like certain tard up there, seriously.

  30. I'm sorry my standard is higher then yours when it comes to custom content.

  31. Love these stairs, Inge and Gosik! Makes me think that the Teleporter from Sims 2 won't be too far behind. I loved using that one because it only required one space to place it.

    No one cares.

but way to say you're not attacking Inge's work while snidely saying you have higher standards.

These are awesome, Inge. I can't abide warped walls and I never watch a Sim use stairs anyway. I'll gladly trade an animation I never watch for an object that won't screw up my walls.

  33. I've been waiting for something like this for ages! It looks great! I can't wait to use it, and I don't care if it doesn't have an animation. It will make building on small lots a LOT easier! :D

    ReplyDelete
  34. These are beautifully made and it will be fascinating to see if animations will be created in the future to match them.

  35. These are very good. A nice alternative option. :)

Yes it was. Good thing you have higher standards and don't download or install anything to your game. Otherwise, these stairs would have been an actual problem.

    ReplyDelete
  37. that is the thing ive ever wanted!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I've been waiting for these since forever. Thank you so much Inge!

    ReplyDelete
  39. ....Can't tell if serious or troll, Vinnie Vin.

But I'm actually willing to patch my game just to try these out if it'll make this effect WAY easier to create.

  40. Omfg, thank you! I love these stairs!

  41. These are a MUST HAVE creation. Inge and Gosik are brilliant!

    ReplyDelete
  42. First of all, the stairs are amazing!!! I just placed it in one of my houses but for some reason my sim won't walk up and acts like something is in the way? i tried knocking away floor tiles and walls around it but it still wont walk up.. I feel really quite silly.. Any ideas? :S

which ones did you place - .packages or sims3packs? And were they left or right?

  45. ^ the .packages and i tried placing the left and the right ones.. none of them seemed to work :/

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'll take a look at them in a second :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. thanks :) its probably just silly me doing something wrong :S

    ReplyDelete
  48. the stairs are fine so it must be something in your game that is really blocking the sim from using them. Just to make sure they are fine, you might try placing them outside to see if the sim will be able to use them. Maybe the ceiling is too low? just a though...

  49. Thanks for the feedback

  50. love these, but where are the wall bits in the catalogue, or are they suppose to be there automatically like regular stairs?

    ReplyDelete
  51. the 'walls' are to be found in fences category :)

  52. The last house I made in game I tried to to stairs with landings. I accomplished it but it wasted so much space. I am so thankful for this download and the work put in. Since I don't actually watch my sims walk up the stairs much I don't care about animation, but how it looks in the house and how much time it takes my sims to walk up them. Routing issues are always a pain. Anyway, once again thank you so much, I will download these as soon as I am home.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I don't care if they're animated or not, they're awesome!! Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I downloaded this, you can't get up the stiars. sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  55. my sim can't go up the stairs either :/
makes me want to cry because i am in love with these stairs and idk why it's not working D:
    helpp!!
