  3. "the world itself is beautiful in its own way however enough people already report crashes, this massive world with all of its detail probably would only make things worse unfortunately."

And note that people on the Sims 3 forums aren't always the most attentive to directions. Whenever a world comes out, there are ALWAYS people who experience crashes solely because they don't have all the EPs. Just look at the thread and you'll see people asking if they can still play the world even if they don't have Ambitions or other EPs.

Also, some people might not have enough RAM or processing power to play the world. This world isn't made for people with weak system specs.

The legitimate crash reports should be paid mind to, but this world was beta tested by several members for a couple months before Pyro officially released it. It's a wonderful world and I LOVE that it's populated, which is something you don't see with most worlds released. The extra amount of time and detail that takes along with all the intricate detail that creators like Pyro and coasterboi put into their worlds is what makes them my favorite world creators, hands down. If only EA made worlds as good as those two.

Also, love that Pyro did this without the use of ANY custom content or even store content. He deserves major props.

  4. Oh thanks for that, I read the forums to double check and I didn't see any real complaining, gonna test it now^

  5. Btw, that first post didn't refer to crashes with this world, just crashes in general.

I can testify that my world does not cause any more crashes than you normally would experience (In my case, none).

Just make sure you have the required expansion packs and enough RAM. I'd say 4GB of RAM is advised, but I don't know if less can handle it.

Less than 4GB will probable result in memory crashes, which is obviously not due to Setra but due to your computer not being able to handle it.

I've also gone to great lengths to make the routing as perfect as possible. Hiccups from routing errors should be at a minimum - definitely far less than in any EA world (They royally mess that up with every world they put out).

Thanks for featuring this here! :)

  6. Thanks Pyro, just opened it up now and all seems well and it looks fantastic :)

  7. @ Pyro, your world should not require 4gb of RAM :) The Sims doesn't even require that it requires 1.5 and I have 3 GB which is more than enough. I have a great processor too. Quad core. Thats like four processors, I do not have an old or a weak computer and people with good and bad processors and people with a lot of memory and a little still have issues and crashing with this game due to worlds that COME with basegame and eps. Therefore I was simply pointing out the obvious that this world could be a problem for people who like to play on HIGH settings.

    ReplyDelete
  8. "The Sims doesn't even require that it requires 1.5 and I have 3 GB which is more than enough."

Actually, the Sims requires more than 1.5 GB, despite what is listed on the page--if you want it to run smoothly and with minimal problems. Those requirements go up with every expansion pack that comes out, especially for instance with Pets. That is to be expected with a game of this type. I don't know ANYONE who only has 1.5 GB RAM and all the expansion packs and can play without hiccups.

If this world is a problem for those with weaker specs, then they should steer clear of it, plain and simple. A creator shouldn't have to limit his or her creativity because some people won't be able to run it or some people may not have all the expansion packs. Creators want to use whatever is available to them without having to rely on potentially-bugged custom content.

I have 4 GB of RAM and wouldn't dream of playing the Sims on anything less. I also play on highest settings. If you can run it on 3, then good for you. Others' experience might differ if they tried it based on many factors.

  9. Pyronium3 has worked on this world for well over a year.

Anyone who has this amount of talent and puts this amount of time and effort into a world should not have to compromise on anything. So what if some people can't run it? There are enough of us who can and are immensely grateful that we have creators like him around. He did all this FOR FREE and his world is 100 times better than anything EA puts out or makes you pay $20 and up for in their store.

  10. Is this world populated?

    ReplyDelete
  11. This world looks beoynd fantastic. It has everything, no CC or store content and is populated. There is one word to describe this:perfection. Thank you Pyro!

    ReplyDelete
  12. It seems like the creator is commenting on their due to the increasingly defensive tone of the replies. Nonetheless the sims crashes and large file cc causes even more problems.

No matter what you say there are those who still experience glitches/crashes/errors even when our computers meet and exceed requirements!!!! Again, the sims does not require 4gb ram to run smoothly, at all. In fact it wouldn't even use most of it.

And I don't buy SP because sp are shit. And I own all EP's :)

  13. ^on their own post :D

    ReplyDelete
  14. oh and no one told you not to make a certain type of world...its simply an objective observation!

    ReplyDelete
  15. "It seems like the creator is commenting on their due to the increasingly defensive tone of the replies. Nonetheless the sims crashes and large file cc causes even more problems."

Actually, it's really low to accuse a creator of commenting on his/her own posts when you have no proof of the matter. I can assure you I'm not Pyro, but you will believe what you want. I just feel that a creator who has put as much time/effort into this world as he has deserves defending.

No one is saying that there aren't problems with this game and that the Sims 3 doesn't have crashes. All I was saying is that if your system specs are on the weaker side, then you should steer clear of this world. It really is common sense.

I'm done arguing with you on the subject. Since you have already accused a really great creator of posting on his own posts, you're not worth anymore of my time. Accusing someone of answering their own posts when you don't like what is being said is really nothing more than a strawman argument and ad hominem attack. You can have the last word now and then have fun arguing with yourself.

Bottom line: if you can run this world, play it. If you cannot or are already having significant crashes, don't download.

  16. Again, the sims does not require 4gb ram to run smoothly, at all. In fact it wouldn't even use most of it.

Not true, it just depends on what OS you use. As of a recent EP (Pets, I think) TS3 now recognizes over 2 GB of RAM as long as you are running a 64 bit OS. If you're using a 32-bit, no amount of RAM over 2 GB will be recognized due to the limitations of your OS.

  17. This is beautiful!!

  18. I LOVE this world! I have been waiting for it for sooo long!

I'd like to add that I don't have a great system. I do have 4GB Ram, but I only have an Intel Core 2 Duo inside my laptop and this world runs just fine! I have all EPs and most of the SPs

    Thanks so much, Pyro. Awesomeness.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Woohoo! Its done! Thanks soo much Pyronium3 for all your beautiful work!

  20. Calm down. Woosah! I understand your passion for a creator you
admire but you're sort of antagonistic. I was just stating my
opinion. Thats what the comment box is for. I did not ask for your thoughts so I do not care whether or not you find "me" worth your time. Clearly, this is "worth" something to you. If not you wouldn't have a response at all. None of this is personal but you seem to be taking it quite personally...

    ReplyDelete
  21. ^Will you shut up and stop going back and forth? You make yourself look just as bad as the person you're trying to chastise.

    ReplyDelete
  22. This world is absolutely beautiful, I downloaded it and played for about a hour. And the lag was terrible. However I can't blame this on world, because Pets is just laggy. Like for instance, when Los Aniegos came out, it was laggy as hell on my computer. I recently purchased a new graphics card, and now Los Aniegos plays really good. However you don't need Pets to play it either. So I uninstalled Pets and played Los Aniegos for a month and had a blast. I do have a good processor and 4 gigs of ram also, so I think once EA gets the kinks out of Pets this world should run pretty good. This world creator is very persistent about making sure his worlds have great routing. So I personally think it's the Pets EP that's causing lag personally.

    ReplyDelete
  23. at the person who responded to me, why would I shut up? why dont you "shut up"? and what makes you think I could possibly care what a total stranger thinks of my opinion?

and just as I predicted the world does cause lag. if a creator cant stand slight criticism then maybe they should learn to!!!

  25. It looks wonderful, congratulations on completing it. Such a big world with beautiful landscape. I'll download it.
Thank you for spending the huge amount of time/digital labour on it and sharing with us.
Many of our community creators are known to make high quality works and release with thorough testing, I myself has played many custom world with such outstanding quality so I think the crashes has nothing to do with the world itself.

  26. '"It seems like the creator is commenting on their due to the increasingly defensive tone of the replies.'

I've responded here before, under my own username. I don't know why I would suddenly go anonymous - so no, that's not me.

Thanks to anonymous though, I appreciate you trying to reason :)

'and just as I predicted the world does cause lag. if a creator cant stand slight criticism then maybe they should learn to!!!'

I can stand criticism, I'm not offended. It's pretty obvious that this world is more demanding than EA worlds and therefor could cause more lag. It's not because of faulty design though; the world's just larger than EA worlds: More lots, more sims, more detail - go figure :)

  29. I wouldn't dream of playing with less than 6 GB of RAM (I have 8 GB). Since Late Night (patch 1.17), the game has been LAA for x64 OSes. (Wouldn't dream of using a x86 OS either; all programs are limited to 2 GB, unless you modify the executable for the programs you want to use more RAM.) While it's true TS3 won't use over 4 GB (3.7 actually), if you want to have other background processes running, you need more than 4 GB RAM to ensure that TS3 is getting all the available memory it can use (Windows 7 itself uses a bit of memory, especially with Aero). A GPU with at least a gig of VRAM doesn't hurt either.

In a perfect world, TS3 would have a x64 version so people with higher-end machines could allocate more memory to the game.

Back on topic, this world looks awesome! There are not enough desert-based, modern, urban worlds available, much less ones of quality. Los Aniegos is the only one I knew of till today. And the fact that a commenter has grouped Setra's creator with Coasterboi makes this a must-DL for me.

And seriously, you can't take what everyone on the official forums say as gospel. I've seen people there write they're afraid of downloading from Mediafire (or other reputable third-party file sharing sites) and that they only trust the Exchange. Yes, there are knowledgeable people there, but there are also your fair share of idiots, and it's pretty easy to tell them apart. (Disclaimer: I haven't actually read through the whole thread, I'm just saying reports of crashes should only be taken seriously if the poster isn't an idiot.)

  30. Distant terrain, nice. And am I the only one that doesn't have a wide-on for populated worlds? It's not a deal breaker since I just annihilate them but it makes it trickier to open/edit in CAW (for personal use). I prefer a save file so I have the choice.

Nothing against this world, definitely still downloading. Obviously a labor of love for the creator.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Okay, so I opened this world up in game, and it is incredible. I think the creator might be as anal as I am because everything from the main menu picture to the lot titles and descriptions is "Maxis match." What I mean is, this world is indistinguishable from a game world—except for the impeccable quality, of course!

There's an opening flyover movie, all the lots have addresses and descriptions (and not a grammatical error in sight); the lots are titled with the same format as SV: with names and the number bedrooms and bathrooms (e.g. Sims Storage - 1br, 1ba). Even the main menu pic is just a snapshot of the world—no writing or title of the world on it. As far as I could find, the creator did not stamp his name in any of the descriptions either (which I totally understand claiming ownership of something you worked hard on and don't begrudge a creator for doing so; but I think not doing it is really commendable.

Like I said, I'm extremely anal (yes, I'm one of those that require Simlish in their game) and there is not one non-Maxis-matching thing I can find in Setra. It may be insane, but this presentation and attention to detail is what makes the world so awesome and unique to me.

  32. i have 32 bit operating system, windows vista, great processor more than enough ram, newer computer! great specs and yes ts3 still causes problems (and its content). my comp is made for running games. as I said before regardless of specs, people all across the board can run into issues. this is nothing to argue about, it's just true. but if you insist...

    ReplyDelete
  33. In a perfect world, TS3 would have a x64 version so people with higher-end machines could allocate more memory to the game.

    Amen.

I have a high end computer with an amazing graphics card, and I admit I still have some issues and lag. However these are because I have a ridiculous amount of CC and Mods. I am well aware that without them it would run smooth as butter.

Might want to take into consideration how much CC you have downloaded if you are having issues.

    ReplyDelete
  34. "i have 32 bit operating system, windows vista, great processor more than enough ram, newer computer! great specs and yes ts3 still causes problems"

Let me inform you that 32 bit operating systems don't recognise more than 3GB RAM, so all your extra RAM is good for nothing...

    Great world btw!

    ReplyDelete
  35. It looks incredibly realistic, the perfect portrait of a north african metropolis. I'll pass, because I always play with small worlds only, but it's fantastic. :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. that is total b.s! 32 bit absolutely does "recognize" 3 gb of ram.
every thing I am able to find about 32 bit and ram
(with millions of search results) says that it does...

where do you get your information?

    ReplyDelete
  37. they said it doesn't recognize MORE THAN 3GB of ram dumbass

    ReplyDelete
  38. and 32-bit is inferior. Your computer is not as great as you think. its still on Vista for fucks sake

    ReplyDelete
  39. Damn I wish I had generations and pets now. This looks lovely ._.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Its a very nice world. I am able to play it for a while, then Sims stops working. I am left to assume my game card just is not cutting it :(. I am getting a new one, I have a GeForce 8400 gs and I want to upgrade at a reasonable cost. I have 6GB of memory and a dual core processor. Any suggestion for a good and well priced graphics card?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous said...i have 32 bit operating system, windows vista, great processor more than enough ram, newer computer! great specs and yes ts3 still causes problems (and its content).

That's because the game can only access around 2 GB of RAM on a 32-bit system. 2 GB is very low for this game, assuming you use most EPs and run it on mid- to high-settings. I'm not surprised you're experiencing problems.

On a personal note: this game runs very well if your computer can handle it. Those of you experiencing lag beyond the first few days (the game generates NPCs and the like) are likely demanding too much from your computer.

  42. Easily one of the best user created worlds developed IMO. Prepopulated as well amazing eye for details puts most of the EA created worlds to shame.
    CongratulationsPyronium3
Those having trouble running this world due to not having a powerful rig with this work should check out his previous world Neverglade (only needs WA)

  43. Setra is flawless!

  44. Its a very nice world. I am able to play it for a while, then Sims stops working.

Saving regularly can also help cut down on freezing/saving issues. It's not a miracle fix, but I use AM to automatically save every 10 minutes. NRAAS has something similar.

Yes and no. I'm not sure what you're googling, but it's not hard to find your answer. At most, a 32-bit system recognizes somewhere between 2-3 GB.

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa366778%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

That's not much for the game, particularly if you leave memory-intensive programs (like anti-virus ones) running while you play.

  46. This looks AMAZING. I've been looking for a new world to download and this is just perfect(:

  47. gawd you're stupid!!! as I said, my comp runs the sims smoothly, specs are good. i dont know whose feelings you think youre hurting but not mine :) damn nerds!

oh and theres nothing inferior about 32 bit or vista. you sound like such a effin dweed? ever been laid?

    ReplyDelete
  48. and anyone can have windows 7, if you think windows 7 is anything special you ARE stupid! all it takes to change from 7 to vista or vista to 7 is a visit to the damn local walmart or best buy and buy a copy of that OS! Ive walked past it countless times. Shut up, just shut up dumb ass :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. JUST SO YOU KNOW my pc has 64 bit capability. You don't know what you're talking about you ass...

    ReplyDelete
  50. I guarantee I've been laid more than you

    ReplyDelete
  51. also I'm running this world smooth as candy on my machine which unlike your inferior piece of crap is a REAL gaming pc

    ReplyDelete
  52. As someone who had a 32 bit and now has a 64 bit I can honestly say, 64 bit is definitely superior. And I'm not a computer geek. Just going on my personal experience.

  56. A 32 bit system and windows vista is definitely NOT enough to run the sims with all expansion packs and stuffed packs. That "nerd" is absolutely correct. You're a dumb azz if you think differently. I love this world but even on my system, which is amd athlon II x2 duo core 3.0 ghz, with a 6770 ati radeon graphics card 2 gig, and 4 gigs of ram, I'm getting lag in this world. So that piece of shyt you have, can run the sims 2 flawlessly but not 3 with custom made worlds...It's a fact. I'm trying to get more ram added to my computer so I can play big worlds. Oh and get a 64 bit if your going to do PC gaming. It's just smart>

    ReplyDelete
  57. This world looks amazing! I would love to try it out but I'm not going to even try as I do only have 2GB RAM (I have most EP's, SP's and play with every setting on low to medium and have never had any major problems with crashing etc.) I'm hoping that I'll get my RAM upgraded when/if Seasons come out but it'll be up to my parents as they'll be the one's paying :(

I'm going to keep an eye out for more worlds from this creator as they clearly have a talent for CAW and fingers crossed that one day I'll be able to download and play them! :D

  58. Pyronious When I open this world it makes me happy,it is just perfect. The Sim people are delightful. I play away happily enjoying and saving then blackness and back to my desktop. I have what appears to be enough stuff to run this world and I love it. I am a very basic computer knowledge person Thankyou For a lovely world I wish it would play for me.

  59. The world is amazing. My computer is one of those that the guys/girls above me are criticizing, but hell, the game still runs, slowly, but it does, and I think it's actually because I have another 2 detailed worlds that I'm planning to uninstall. Before I installed them, my PC could even handle Bridgeport.
Your work is way better than the shit EA sales. I won't be wasting $20 for an unrealistic crap like Lunar Lakes. Props to you!
