Anyway, while on the whole store/EA/Launcher type thing...I just really wanted to complain about the launcher for a second. After installing HELS, my game went a little crazy again, so I ended up uninstalling everything and starting over. I did save all of my families to the bin, so it wasn't so bad. And I did want a new neighborhood anyway. What is bad is the launcher. I'm completely up to date with the patches and EVERYTHING is running super-smoothly, all but the launcher, that is. If I dare try uninstalling ANYTHING, the launcher just keeps scrolling down, until I get the "launcher has stopped" whatever-ing. So, basically, I'm stuck with everything I don't want anymore. I will say that my game saves in seconds now instead of minutes, and my game load time is super-quick, but that could be the new computer. That's about it:)

At some unidentifiable point, my launcher went totally wonky as well. For some reason, whenever I try to install anything it tells me I need to have the latest update, despite the fact that I'm completely up to date on the patch. Back to packages I go, I guess.

ReplyDeletemy launcher will work ok as long as I don't try to scroll through by using the scroll bar. I have to just use my mouse wheel and it will work better for me.

ReplyDeleteIf you have a firewall, disable the hell out of it, or mark the launcher as something allowed.
ReplyDeleteMy launcher woes were apparently the cause of a firewall. The launcher didnt have permissions to connect to the internet, so it crashed immediately and just sat there pretending to load. Allowing it to use the internet stopped that entirely, and it works fine now.
my launcher won't install .sims3pack files. wtf. and i don't want to have to use a user made workaround either. i wonder when EA is going to fix this shit.
ReplyDeletei can't get any worlds to install. the launcher says installation was successful, but the installed icon doesn't show up and it doesn't show up in the game. any solutions?
ReplyDeleteI had the same scrolling problem that you have. This is what I do, I let it load fully or it will crash, then I don't scroll or click the arrows because that will make it crash too. I click in the bar space to make it go down. Clicking the bar and moving it yourself works too but it's harder when you have lots of items installed.

When worlds don't install, do the following:
ReplyDeleteRemove the file from the documents/electronicarts/sims3/downloads folder
Remove it from the installed worlds folder, if it happens to be in there
Remove it from your "exports" folder, if it is there
Close the launcher completely
Open the launcher completely(don't click the world, just open the launcher)
THEN click the world.

Anyway, the launcher is just too temperamental for me. Combining packages has worked like a charm for me so far. *crosses fingers*
EA is not going to fix it- they will just keep releasing patch after patch, after patch- the same as they did with both Sims 1, and Sims 2, until some creative experienced modder like Pescado, Wintermute, or Numenor gets sick of it and rips apart the game and fixes it themselves- just like they have always done- and when that happens they will stop releasing patches at all.

How do you save your families to the bin?

When I have to reinstal my game i always lose my families and have to start again.
I only keep my sims in "saved sims".
I know it's out of topic but help would be very apreciated.
I don't use the Launcher anyway. :)
