Game Update for: 1.15/2.10/3.6/4.3

To install this update, please start your game and use the “Updates” tab in your Launcher.

This game update includes:

New Features

· Sims that drive extensively can now develop a relationship with their vehicles. Vehicles can be named once a friendship is formed.

· The Vehicle Enthusiast Trait is now available. Sims with this trait can name their vehicles immediately and develop relationships with them more quickly.

Base Game Updates

· Fixed an issue where ghosts could become stuck in vehicles under certain conditions. Ghosts will now properly exit vehicles after arriving at their destination.

· Nameable items can only be named when they belong to the active household.

World Adventures Updates

· Career titles for Sims visiting Egypt, France and China will now display in the Relationship Panel tooltips.

The Sims 3 Create a World

· Create a World users need to install a new version of The Sims 3 Create a World Tool. Users can find the Create a World page from the “Games” drop down in the site header.

Before installing an Update for The Sims 3, an Expansion Pack, or a Stuff Pack, it is a good idea to run through the following checklist to ensure your game continues to work smoothly.
If you have any questions about the below steps, please visit the Technical Support forum on the official Sims 3 community found at this URL: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/forums/show/10.page

Step 1: Disable Custom Content

Custom Content is all Sims content that did not come from an official The Sims 3 Update, The Sims 3 Store, Expansion Pack, or Stuff Pack. Custom Content is created by 3rd Party Developers that are not regulated by Electronic Arts or The Sims 3 Development Team and may not work with new updates. Custom Content may cause the game to behave unexpectedly or not function entirely.

To disable your custom content, undo whatever you did to install this content to get your game back into an unmodified state. If you placed it in a Sims 3 directory folder, move it to a new folder that is outside your Sims 3 file directory. Your Sims 3 file directory can be found using the paths listed below:

Windows File Directory: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3

Mac File Directory: User/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims/

Once you have installed the official update you may re-enable your custom content. If you experience problems, disable it again until the 3rd party developer updates their content to work with the official Update, Expansion Pack, or Stuff Pack.

Step 2: Back Up your Save Files

It’s always a good precaution to back up your save files before installing an Expansion Pack, Update, or Stuff Pack. To do this, copy the “.sims3” folders found in the Saves folder onto your desktop or another file directory.

Your Sims 3 Saves folder can be found using the paths listed below:

Windows File Directory: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves

Mac File Directory: User/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims/Saves

After the Update is installed, run the game to verify your saves still function correctly.

Step 3: Let the Update Complete Entirely

Updates can sometimes be rather large and may take a while to download and install completely. Cancelling the update before it has completed may cause unexpected problems, so it is always best to let it finish entirely. Do not close the Launcher until you have confirmed the update is completely installed, as this will cancel the update.

  1. Apparently this patch fucks up CAW? I'm too afraid to lose CAW right now, so I'm not yet installing it. Can somebody braver than me verify whether CAW works after the patch? I'd hate to lose my world-building feature. </3

  2. Oh yeah.... gonna have me a relationship with my car <3

    ....

    wut?

  3. Ah, so the new feature DOESN'T come with the stuff pack.

Ah well, then it's useless for me. Definitely won't be getting it now. Thanks EA for not milking me for money, I feel so much better now I know that all I'd be paying twenty quid for would be a stuff pack, which I could easily replace with far better quality CC.

  4. You can develop relationships with your car?!

    Anyone reminded of this...

  5. Annnnd I officially have no reason to buy the stuff pack now.

  6. Haha, don't need the SP for the new trait. Cool, although I really didn't want to deal with it. Absolutely no need for "Fast Lane", hopefully a creator will make a car from the 30's and 40's era.

Now it will be hard to get new cars for my sims, when they started out with cheap cars in a starter lot. Oh well, I will see how this play out.

    ReplyDelete
  7. ^forgot to say: it will be hard to get rid of the old beaters cause the sim has developed a relationship with it.

  8. Oh boy oh boy! Now I don't need the the junk pack :) I will wait to install this patch until my can't live withouts have been updated to it. :)

  9. EA should be ashamed for so little updates in this patch.

What they are doing, though, is changing the engine a little bit at each patch.
    This one changes the lighting again. (Last one did too);

    Btw, relationships with your car?
Ha-ha, I got to try that out.

  10. Before anyone updates, remember if you have mods WAIT for the mod creator's to update. This will cause less of a headache for creator's due to some overeager simmers that couldn't wait!

  11. Have a relationship. With your car.

What happens if you start exclusively driving another car, will it get jelly?

  12. Sims are now mechaphiles!

  13. I see no fix for the Ambitions traits in the family tree becoming invisible :/

Ah well, always wanted this new trait.

    ReplyDelete
  14. What is this new trait, I don't even.

  15. Does anyone know if this patch fixes the CC hair issue for Mac users?

  16. You can have a relationship with your cars!? I can't be the only one who talks to their car...

  17. Bad news,CAW doesn't work after this :(As usual ...

    ReplyDelete
  18. I don't use CAW, but I know that users having to download a new version of it now whenever they decide to release a new patch MUST be fucking tedious. It's about 160 MB, so for some people on bandwidth limits or with slower connections, that really is inconvenient.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Now we can woohoo with our cars! Yay!
    LOL. Just kidding.

  22. ^Yeah, FordGT90concept said he would have it up by tomorrow. Last time I checked, MTS was down for maintenance, though.

  23. i just got it and i seriously want to kick my self what a waste of money, you guys are better off spending 20 bucks at the store for simpoints and getting 10 bucks worth of female and male hair and stuff for the kids. there is ONE Shirt for men! count it, ONE! jeeez, this is my first and probably my last time buying a stuff pack

  24. Having to uninstall all cc is so obnoxious!

  25. It borked my game, I installed it through the launcher and now my game won't start because it says my base game is incompatible. wtf is that?

I'm sorry. Can you take it back and get a refund? This is exactly why I never get stuff packs. I always buy the expansions but never the stuff packs.

  27. "It borked my game, I installed it through the launcher and now my game won't start because it says my base game is incompatible. wtf is that?"

It means that the Launcher didn't update the base game.

You can download the manual basegame patch at the link below:

    http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_1.15.34.008002_from_1.14.11.007002.exe

Or you can just wait until FordGT90Concept updates the Sims 3 Patch Downloader over at MTS and it will get all the patches for you.

  28. People still don't understand what a stuff pack is, I guess.

Not everyone has the internet. A stuff pack is absolutely identical to the concept of store stuff- you are not obligated to buy it. You are not missing out on much by not buying it. Nowhere were you promised the world for it. It's simply a collection of sets for people who *don't have the internet* so they don't miss out entirely on getting extra bonus stuff to buy.

Of course those with the internet can buy it too, but a lot of people seem to be under the impression that "stuff pack" means "mini expansion" or something, just because you can go buy it in a box- but it doesn't! It's just a pack of store objects, basically. I don't know why people expect more than that.

People don't freak if they don't own everything from the store, so I dunno why people act like they're obligated to buy stuff packs or like their game is incomplete if they don't.

If you feel it's not worth it, then don't buy it. Better yet, don't buy it the day it comes out, and instead wait to see a list of everything included. This is called "smart shopping". You have no right to whine about being disappointed with it when you rushed out to buy it without even knowing what you were getting...

  29. ^^Thanks Annon, I tried installing manually but the installation would get interrupted for some reason.
So I guess I'll wait for a update on the Sims 3 Patch Downloader. :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. ^Oh and it was already updated! :D

    ReplyDelete
  31. It was already updated? Sweet! I'll be over to download the new version.

  33. Why are the imbeciles the most vocal in all of these blog posts?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Srsly it is not that hard people. Update yor game, remove mods, install, put mods back. If there are incompatabilities than remove core mods until they are updated.

TG I got it for free as a gift... I'm not into cars so much but I like the luxe stuff

    ReplyDelete
  35. lol and i thought my rant was going to get an asskicking. i still dont get how after 4 packs you guys still dont get that you need to remove some hacks and cc for the game to work properly and then re insert one by one or when the hack is updated

    ReplyDelete
  36. ^ You seriously fail at knowledge!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Will EA ever fix the launcher?? Geez, it seems like I've been waiting forever for a patch to fix the issues with the launcher not installing cc....oh well, guess I will not be buying any expansions.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Actually, it's probably not a good idea to patch just yet. Over at the tech forums, people have been complaining that with the patches, their launchers read version 0.0.00.000000 and a message keeps popping up saying, "Base game incompatible."

Although I don't really trust the SimGurus that much, you can read this thread to see what you need to do if you're having issues:
    http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/215585.page

    ReplyDelete
  39. That error message is fixed very easily, all you have to do is patch your basegame.

    ReplyDelete
  40. ^ I had that problem and guessed that the patch just updated the base game, but not the last EP. After that I installed the Ambitions patch and everything was okay.

I am patching manually cause I am having issues with the launcher. Just updating the base game and not the EPs don't work. Have to update all of it. :D

  41. "Sims that drive extensively can now develop a relationship with their vehicles. Vehicles can be named once a friendship is formed"

WTH!!! So you gonna make Woo Hoo with you car!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ah, I see. Still - I won't patch my game until Late Night. I've never had problems with their patches - but I honestly don't trust them. So many people have had severe problems with each patch that I don't bother anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I updated and my game is fine, even with mods.

I am undecided if I need the new stuff pack, it seems kind of pointless.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The "incompatible" error simply means they patched wrong. Lots of people think all they have to do is open the launcher and patch, but that's not true.

You have to patch the base game and every expansion, and that requires patching various times. I used to do it by opening the launchers in each of the game folders. They may or may not be different from each other, but it always worked for me.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I shall wait to patch. Once all of my favorite mods/hacks have been updated, I'll make the switch. Its just easier.

    ReplyDelete
  46. @Andrea: Unfortunately, no. CC hair on Macs is still a russian roulette game.

    ReplyDelete
  47. ^Ugh. I'm sick of having to work just to get my game to load with CC. :| Guess this patch is as useless as it looks.

    ReplyDelete
  48. This works with the mods and cc, the only thing that happend that i dont like about this patch is that the new trait isn't showing up....

    ReplyDelete
  49. This patch fucks up the in-game lighting. :/ It had a good brightness shine/intensity, but with the custom intensity at 5, it seems the same and quite dim.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Only problem I have when I don't have the stuff packs is that I can't use cc that has been made with the stuff pack installed. This sucks because there is a lot of good cc that I cannot use so basically if we want the cc then we have to get the stuff packs which quite honestly like most of you I don't want so it is a catch 22 situation lol.

By the way aWT said (near the top of this post) that EA changes the engine a little bit at a time with each patch and that the lighting is changed again with this latest patch.

I am so sick of this already, I don't see why they don't fix their launcher. I have read so much about people not being able to install cc (I cannot even install store stuff) with their launcher. All I get is Read the log... and yes you guessed it EA THERE IS NO LOG!!!. Fix your mess-ups please!

    ReplyDelete
  51. yea i noticed that the lighting was a little different, but do you guys know which mod is the one that blocks the vehivle enthusit trait from showing up?
