There's nothing wrong with making over EA houses and if you compared this with EA's version you certainly would see the same difference, it's mostly the floorplan that's the same everything else is different (not any different from taking a floorplan off a website...)

Clearly that one person IS insane, or more likely just tasteless. This is hands-DOWN incredibly better than the flavorless EA version. Looking at their 'blah' decor is all the proof you need.

How is this any less bland than EA? Her colour palette is so limited and ugly. Everything is either light brown wood texture or green.
