I just right click on negative moodlets to get rid of any that I think are "unfair". So, I don't see the cold shower thing as a big deal. (You may have to have "testingcheatsenabled true" entered before right clicking works.)
Damn that is annoying. I have not considered this. I was too concentrated on meshing itself since most of such items I have done the first time. I still feel as a beginner. Same with the bed. I'm not sure which energy and comfort do not cause this moddlet bug. I'm playing too rare... Sorry.
^If you want to make a second 'luxury' version, making sure you cloned the best fridge/stove (These are actually both 'ok' though on the low end of it) /beds/showers/ect I'd totally download the revisions.
But I'd actually keep the 'low quality' version too, just because sometimes I want the extra challenge, but if my sim has a lot of extra money to burn, there's no reason why they should suffer just because I happen to love a particular mesh. And using 'same energy gain' type mods makes me feel like I'm cheating.
I can totally get you the names of the best objects in the catalog to clone if you're not familair enough with playing. It would be easy.

It happens. Very few creators have the time to play it seems like. It would be awesome if it's fixable, but if not, it's just something to keep in mind.
