THIS. What really shows the best creativity/talent is if you are able to make an amazing, real-life world like this and use ZERO custom content. I would never download a custom content world and my hat goes off to coasterboi for pulling this off. Well played, man. Well played.

I've been following this world for some time since I first heard of it. I'm beyond excited that its finally released. I'm taking all my favorite sims and moving them into this lovely west coast oasis pronto!
I've never downloaded a world before other than EA's worlds, as they usually look a bit lame and I don't trust them, but this one is the exception. I looks gorgeous! I can't wait to move my sims in! :D
It's very pretty. I like the golf course, and hope it is loaded with spawners, because it'd be awesome to wander a golf course to find rocks and bugs and stuff.
I only hope that you can remove the sign in edit world. Do we have to download any CC for this?
This world is fucking EPICCC! I'm checking it out in-game now and it is so amazingly executed and tactfully done. Incredibly realistic and huuuuge! This is a REAL city.

Not only did Coasterboi say the world required no CC in the thread MS3B linked (VERY FIRST POST), but it has been repeated numerous times here in the comments that no CC was used.
So the next time you get ready to fly off the handle on somebody for not reading or anything else so you can feel superior, remember your own hypocrisy.
Has anyone downloaded the fixes? A save file of the world iwth the fixed lots would be nice. I can't believe they'd upload fixed lots but not a fixed *version* or at least a save file with the fixes.
Ok, I don't like to use expletives but FUCKING AMAZING does not even do this creation justice. I am in jaw-dropping awe! I didn't even know this type of quality was possible. EA needs to hire this one right now -- step up your game EA -- because the modders sure have.
Downloaded, and yes, it is a peach with some very nice features. However, I am a bit puzzled at the lack of any distant terrain. The world ends in a flat line of water like in TS2. A good town, but not as good as Red County, nor as big it seems. Tizerist
The "Magic Kingdom" lot in this world is a testament to how amazingly talented and creative Coasterboi is. I have no words for what this world is.. just WOW!
Interesting Facts. - Sunrise starts at 6.00 a.m. - Sunset at 8.00 p.m. - Altered work time. - Could accommodate 200+ sims. Mine capped at 180 including NPCS but still more residential lots were empty. - Great for screenshots. - Interesting celebrity names. - Divided into several boroughs. Some has its own rabbit-holes.
I'm trying to like this world but it's too overwhelming for me. I'm a more small town person. If you like big cities then this world is for you. I could've sworn I tried my best not to use the W,A,S,D buttons to steer the vehicle. I thought I was playing GTA.
Wow, this is beautiful. I have to admit, I like the idea of "towns" with differnt boroughs, neighbourhoods. It feels fun, and I can always have my sims "vacation" to the areas further away.
But, I JUST started playing Oakwood, so I don't really want to start a new town so soon.
I think I'll download this now, and just save it for when I get bored of oakwood.
I'm downloading it now. It doesn't have CC stuff, but it does have Store items, which I only have some of. Oh well, it'll just get replaced.
It looks awesome, and he's been working on it for ages now. Can't wait to play this world. I've had a few from the exchange (and Redcliffs) but they weren't quite as wonderful. And Redcliffs includes a lot of CC.

Here is the link for the world file he gave. Just put it in your my documents/electronic arts/ the sims 3/ installed worlds folder. Overwrite the old one and your good too go!
This world is truly AMAZING! Im blown away by how much work went into this! I wont be downloading yet since I dont have Late Night, but as soon as I get it this will be my first download!
I dunno. Theres a certain level of comfort knowing that while I'm kissing my gorgeous girlfriend in front of a log fire at my place, Claeric is loitering alone over at MATY, desperately trying to make friends with the same people who mercilessly tear him to shreds, spit at him and mock his puny lack of knowledge.
This type of world has definitely been missing from the ones I've seen. Most are very lush and green, which is beautiful, but the change is welcome. Especially since I LOVE SAN DIEGO.

Are you sure your computer is powerful enough to run it? How much memory do you have? Have you tried running it without custom content or mods? If it's not an underpowered computer, then perhaps a mod or piece of custom content is preventing it from working. Do you have all the EPs required?
I don't believe there are any 50x50 or 60x60 lots to build on...and all the other lots are really weird sizes so that if you've built a house in a different world, you probably wouldn't be able to find room for it here. Shame. I think creators should always keep at least a couple lots the sizes that come with EA worlds (like even sizes).
With that said, I still love this world. The attention to detail is amazing and it's certainly the best made player world out there.

Yes, I do. But the problem arises when you try to place lots on areas where they cannot be placed. I tried to place multiple lots and got "can't place lot on unroutable terrain" message. It's easy to place them in other worlds, but because of the land sculpt that Coasterboi chose, you can't do it here - at least not with lots that are 50x50; if you were able to, they'd have to be small. Also, even if you bulldoze a lot, you can't place another lot of a different size in its place using the world editor because it says "can't place lot on lot."

No, you cannot. In fact, it's been said MANY times here and in his thread at the official forums that you cannot use this world unless you have ALL THREE of the expansion packs. If a creator tells you that you need all the EPs to play their world, then that's it - you need all of them and that's that.
For those of you experiencing crashes during loading, if you don't have all the EPs, then that is why. You will not be able to play this world. Not only does he use objects from the EPs, but he uses gameplay from them as well.
I honestly don't know why some people would experience crashing, unless they're missing an EP. I have all EPs (though no SPs) and have played this world for several real-life hours. No crashing.
when i install this world last night, it crash but then i tried again and it worked but its too laggy.. i dont know.. haven't experience any lag problem with other worlds.. but still, love this one.. can anyone upload the fixes lots? im not a member on that forum. :( please..
Yeah, if you have all the EPs and SPs and it's still crashing, then either your computer is underpowered to run it or you have a conflicting piece of custom content or mod somewhere.
^Actually, scratch the "SPs" part. You don't need any stuff packs, just all the expansions. I don't have any stuff packs and everything runs fine for me.
^Just wait on the new file because more bugs popped up outside of those fixed lots he uploaded. Coasterboi said on the official forum that he wanted to release it sometime today but he was playtesting it, so it will probably be tomorrow or Monday when he updates the new world file with all the fixes.

Just a heads up, but for anyone who had no problems loading the first version of the world and who is experiencing crashing with the second version (assuming you have all EPs in the first place), you need to clear both your World Caches of the old Los Aniegos and also dump the files in your DCBackup folder (they are useless anyway).
I know it's been said for the nth time but I LOVE THIS WORLD! It's actually the 1st time I'll download a custom world. It's also clever of you to simmify the LA Name and its Hollywood sign. Thanks for sharing. XD
as much as i love this world but everytime i play this one, my game keeps lagging so long.. i even have twallan's overwatch. i haven't had any lagging problems with other worlds.. :( anyone having problems too?

the military base should be in the courthouse with the policestation. I have a strange problem. A copy of my active sim is floating underwater off of the edge of the map and I cannot do anything to get rid of her. It showed up 1st as a location for a Investigator oppourtunity,but there is no visable lot there ,and is in an "unrouteable area" It is causing my game to lag. I was into my 7th sim week, and would sure like to save the game. I am not adept with CAW but the phantom sim seems to be a few levels below the map. I had something similar happen when I first began playing this wonderful neighborhood. They are easy enough to add yourself. What's the point of coasterboi adding them and then reuploading the ENTIRE world and making people download it again just for something that simple?
I found that the lot 140 RANCHO WAY kept showing a empty house icon even tho there was nothing built on it. Turns out the lot had maybe 25 or 30 spawners of every kind. fish, gems, insects... I had to lower the elevation of the lot to get them all.

An easier way is to just bulldoze the lot, but only once.
I noticed a few other lots with empty house icons but nothing on them, so I assume they are victims of the same problem:
120 Beverly Boulevard 350 Toluca Lake Road 1 Lancaster Road (64x64 lot out in the desert)
In my game (I have the updated version), I was looking for 140 Rancho Way to have an empty house icon but it didn't...it was showing a regular lot icon so I didn't bulldoze it...weird.
when I tried just bulldozing the lot at 140 Rancho Way, at first it would be okay and show up as an empty lot, but after awhile every thing would start spawning again, and the empty house icon would return. I mentioned it only because it is an odd lot size, and hard to replace if you bulldoze a second time. I use awesomemod and you can "addlotsize value X value" in the cheat console, but I am not sure if it is an awesomemod feature or an EA cheat. I also wondered if it could cause problems such a lag or something.
I downloaded this a couple of weeks ago, worked fine for me then, I played it for a couple of hours, then when I went back to playing it, it crashes when I try to load it... Its a shame, such a nice world :|

This would be my third time redownloading this world, and I don't really want to lose all my sims AGAIN, so I'm debating whether it's worth it to redownload or not.
Performance/Aesthetic - Re-designed, optimized foliage in the world - added more green terrain to surrounding hills - retextured roads and sidewalks - added family biographies and lot descriptions to every lot - world description now shows thanks to updated city resource file - combined several small lots (rabbitholes) into one larger one - added 'non-routable' paint to terrain outside of play area - smoothed over existing non-routable areas - removed parking garages (replaced with parking lots) from lots that included building shells. - new icon
Customization - removed and replaced existing empty lots with standard size lots - added additional standard sized lots throughout the region - moved spawners to accommodate player-added lots
Spawners/Harvestables - redesigned farms to feature more harvestable crops - added a nectary near Riverdale with harvestable grape crops - added fish spawners to Grizzly Lake
Gameplay - Redesigned the Rodeo Drive lot and added a supermarket - removed hidden gnomes

Don't need it. Click on View in your tool bar, then Page Source. Ctrl+F (Cmd+F on macs) and type "sims3pack". Copy this link (once you've found it) to your address bar, and hit enter. Make sure you ONLY copy the address, and not any extra punctuation.

Being a sheep is downloading something just because everyone else is - even if you really don't want it. Just because a large number of people like something doesn't mean everyone is being a sheep or that you should deny yourself something you enjoy just because everyone else seems to like it.
This actually is only the second user-made world I've ever downloaded, the first being Neverglade. There are plenty of other good worlds that were very popular and I chose not to download them because they just were not my cup of tea.
Millions of people play the Sims, so the very fact that you even have the game installed could make you a sheep in the eyes of some people...
Have tested this latest version and there is dramatic reduction now in lag as there was in previous versions. Coasterboi specifically revamped the world to address the problems many were having especially playing on lower end computers. If you go to the exchange and read the thread where his world is (the last few pages) you'll find the answers and other people's feedback on the world as well as the updated .world file itself. There are also pictures taken inside and out of some of the bigger houses as supplied by a member there again in thread - all you have to do is look.
the desert style to this place is still very beautiful. I'll download the update happily. Though it's a bit funny the update is "for Late Night" when the town was built for Late Night, and required Late Night from almost the start.
It's called "for Late Night" because he intends to updated for each new EP. Supposedly the next EP is "On the Farm", so the next Los Aniegos will be "for OTF" (or whatever it is)
What are you talking about? Everyone knows the next EP is gonna be centered around elders, with bingo, a swing music station, a Florida-themed world with a huge trailer park, etc. "Glory Days" or something.

The only time rumors are even remotely solid is when the titles are listed on reputable game sites. That one never was. Just some bored kid with an active imagination on wikipedia.
You guys. I'm not joking about Glory Days. There will be 5 new ways to die. It's Florida, so new bugs and a new career: exterminator. A new "spend the night at grandparent's house" wish, a new dance (polka), card games, iced tea, etc.

most "old people" I know loathe those stereotypes and aren't like that in the least. And for those that are, whose to say they aren't just crumbling underneath the expectations of the world due to that stereotype.
When I see a springy-hair-permed, tracksuit-wearing, old woman who fits the stereotype, I don't see an "old person" I just see a pathetic husk of a human whose become what she's "supposed" to. When I see someone who still takes care of their appearance, takes part in activities both "Old" and more adventuous/youthful, then THAT is a person to me. "Old", yes, but more importantly they're a person.

I've installed it and t looks great but the lag time is pretty bad even with all of my settings lowered and my system exceeding all of the hardware requirements. I'm probably not going to end up keeping this.

This type of world has definitely been missing from the ones I've seen. Most are very lush and green, which is beautiful, but the change is welcome. Especially since I LOVE SAN DIEGO.

ReplyDeleteAre you sure your computer is powerful enough to run it? How much memory do you have? Have you tried running it without custom content or mods? If it's not an underpowered computer, then perhaps a mod or piece of custom content is preventing it from working. Do you have all the EPs required?

ReplyDeleteI don't believe there are any 50x50 or 60x60 lots to build on...and all the other lots are really weird sizes so that if you've built a house in a different world, you probably wouldn't be able to find room for it here. Shame. I think creators should always keep at least a couple lots the sizes that come with EA worlds (like even sizes).

ReplyDeleteYes, I do. But the problem arises when you try to place lots on areas where they cannot be placed. I tried to place multiple lots and got "can't place lot on unroutable terrain" message. It's easy to place them in other worlds, but because of the land sculpt that Coasterboi chose, you can't do it here - at least not with lots that are 50x50; if you were able to, they'd have to be small. Also, even if you bulldoze a lot, you can't place another lot of a different size in its place using the world editor because it says "can't place lot on lot."

ReplyDeleteNo, you cannot. In fact, it's been said MANY times here and in his thread at the official forums that you cannot use this world unless you have ALL THREE of the expansion packs. If a creator tells you that you need all the EPs to play their world, then that's it - you need all of them and that's that.
For those of you experiencing crashes during loading, if you don't have all the EPs, then that is why. You will not be able to play this world. Not only does he use objects from the EPs, but he uses gameplay from them as well.

ReplyDeleteMaybe it's too big for your computer to handle? There's no CC that could be causing it. It loads fine for me.
I honestly don't know why some people would experience crashing, unless they're missing an EP. I have all EPs (though no SPs) and have played this world for several real-life hours. No crashing.

ReplyDeleteYeah, if you have all the EPs and SPs and it's still crashing, then either your computer is underpowered to run it or you have a conflicting piece of custom content or mod somewhere.
ReplyDelete^Actually, scratch the "SPs" part. You don't need any stuff packs, just all the expansions. I don't have any stuff packs and everything runs fine for me.

ReplyDelete^Just wait on the new file because more bugs popped up outside of those fixed lots he uploaded. Coasterboi said on the official forum that he wanted to release it sometime today but he was playtesting it, so it will probably be tomorrow or Monday when he updates the new world file with all the fixes.

ReplyDeleteJust a heads up, but for anyone who had no problems loading the first version of the world and who is experiencing crashing with the second version (assuming you have all EPs in the first place), you need to clear both your World Caches of the old Los Aniegos and also dump the files in your DCBackup folder (they are useless anyway).

ReplyDeleteTry using Save As instead. If you are still having problems while using "Save As," then it's possible your computer doesn't have enough memory.

ReplyDeleteI have a strange problem. A copy of my active sim is floating underwater off of the edge of the map and I cannot do anything to get rid of her. It showed up 1st as a location for a Investigator oppourtunity,but there is no visable lot there ,and is in an "unrouteable area" It is causing my game to lag. I was into my 7th sim week, and would sure like to save the game. I am not adept with CAW but the phantom sim seems to be a few levels below the map. I had something similar happen when I first began playing this wonderful neighborhood. A sim was stuck at the end of one of the long roads and this was causing my game to lag, I nuked her, and all was well, until now. [IMG]http://i55.tinypic.com/15qycqw.jpg[/IMG]

No lag for me. 4 gb RAM, lots of CC installed. I do use AM and Overwatch. It's a big world, so it may depend on your computer specs.
I found that the lot 140 RANCHO WAY kept showing a empty house icon even tho there was nothing built on it. Turns out the lot had maybe 25 or 30 spawners of every kind. fish, gems, insects... I had to lower the elevation of the lot to get them all.

ReplyDeleteAn easier way is to just bulldoze the lot, but only once.
I noticed a few other lots with empty house icons but nothing on them, so I assume they are victims of the same problem:
120 Beverly Boulevard
350 Toluca Lake Road
1 Lancaster Road (64x64 lot out in the desert)
In my game (I have the updated version), I was looking for 140 Rancho Way to have an empty house icon but it didn't...it was showing a regular lot icon so I didn't bulldoze it...weird.
when I tried just bulldozing the lot at 140 Rancho Way, at first it would be okay and show up as an empty lot, but after awhile every thing would start spawning again, and the empty house icon would return. I mentioned it only because it is an odd lot size, and hard to replace if you bulldoze a second time. I use awesomemod and you can "addlotsize value X value" in the cheat console, but I am not sure if it is an awesomemod feature or an EA cheat. I also wondered if it could cause problems such a lag or something.

ReplyDeleteThis would be my third time redownloading this world, and I don't really want to lose all my sims AGAIN, so I'm debating whether it's worth it to redownload or not.
Update changes:

- Re-designed, optimized foliage in the world
- added more green terrain to surrounding hills
- retextured roads and sidewalks
- added family biographies and lot descriptions to every lot
- world description now shows thanks to updated city resource file
- combined several small lots (rabbitholes) into one larger one
- added 'non-routable' paint to terrain outside of play area
- smoothed over existing non-routable areas
- removed parking garages (replaced with parking lots) from lots that included building shells.
- new icon
Customization
- removed and replaced existing empty lots with standard size lots
- added additional standard sized lots throughout the region
- moved spawners to accommodate player-added lots
Spawners/Harvestables
- redesigned farms to feature more harvestable crops
- added a nectary near Riverdale with harvestable grape crops
- added fish spawners to Grizzly Lake
Gameplay
- Redesigned the Rodeo Drive lot and added a supermarket
- removed hidden gnomes

ReplyDeleteDon't need it. Click on View in your tool bar, then Page Source. Ctrl+F (Cmd+F on macs) and type "sims3pack". Copy this link (once you've found it) to your address bar, and hit enter. Make sure you ONLY copy the address, and not any extra punctuation.

ReplyDeleteBeing a sheep is downloading something just because everyone else is - even if you really don't want it. Just because a large number of people like something doesn't mean everyone is being a sheep or that you should deny yourself something you enjoy just because everyone else seems to like it.
This actually is only the second user-made world I've ever downloaded, the first being Neverglade. There are plenty of other good worlds that were very popular and I chose not to download them because they just were not my cup of tea.
Millions of people play the Sims, so the very fact that you even have the game installed could make you a sheep in the eyes of some people...

Have tested this latest version and there is dramatic reduction now in lag as there was in previous versions. Coasterboi specifically revamped the world to address the problems many were having especially playing on lower end computers. If you go to the exchange and read the thread where his world is (the last few pages) you'll find the answers and other people's feedback on the world as well as the updated .world file itself. There are also pictures taken inside and out of some of the bigger houses as supplied by a member there again in thread - all you have to do is look.

The wikipedia rumor was "On the Ranch" and it's since been removed.
The only time rumors are even remotely solid is when the titles are listed on reputable game sites. That one never was. Just some bored kid with an active imagination on wikipedia.
