This looks really good! I don't really care about the big poofy hairs on toddlers, I know that some people use them... this is way too big on kids & toddlers though, it would be cute if it was scaled better
For me it's somewhere in the middle, anything longer than shoulder length is too long for my toddlers, in reality it would probably somewhere around the ears.
" ^I don't either. I hate it. I do wish people would do more traditionally "masculine" styles for men, though."
By 'traditional' you'll need to specify what culture and what century. Technically, short hair for men, is rather 'new' in the grand scheme of things and not 'traditional' at all.
It is alright, but what bugs me is that it depends on the face shape/width and eye distance in order for it fit properly so that it does not look like it is eating the face up, but overall I think it looks good.
"By 'traditional' you'll need to specify what culture and what century. Technically, short hair for men, is rather 'new' in the grand scheme of things and not 'traditional' at all."
There have been times when men wore their hair long but not like what Peggy & Cazy and other creators do! There is a huge difference between long hair on a man and a woman's hair on a man
Most men in most of today's cultures do not wear their hair long. Several do, but in most of the largest, most common cultures I've observed, most do not in this day and age.
Thank goodness we have people like Tum Tum who actually provide us with the short masculine hairstyles. In the real world, you'll see most men with those hairstyles and the men with longer hairstyles aren't the majority in most places, but in the Sims world, those real world hairstyles are sparse in comparison to much of the longer, girly hairstyles. Before anyone calls those hairstyles "gay," they are not gay. Most gay men I know of keep their hair short.
Hey...anyone want a wall conversion? I know this is shameless self advertising, but I'm feeling awful right now and to be honest I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks of me.
They're at my blog if anyone wants them. Which they won't. Because they're blatantly way too awesome for you.
"Most men in most of today's cultures do not wear their hair long. Several do, but in most of the largest, most common cultures I've observed, most do not in this day and age."
But they said, "Traditional" not "Modern" which is why I said they need to specify, what they mean by "Traditional." Traditional Roman male would be short for example. But, Traditional in terms of... the court of Charles II would be long and curly, and most likely a wig. Being specific always trumps being vague and assuming everyone will know what you mean. That anon could have cited specific celebrity hairstyles for example. Or a specific period.. like 1950s 'America' or something less vague than 'Traditionally masculine.'
Other anon, I can tell the difference between exceedingly feminine hair, and 'long hair'. Yes, peggy gets it wrong most of the time, but some other simmers (myself not included) like doing androgynous, or femme men, so there is some reason for her to do it. But I also prefer them separated.
I think this looks nice. For males, it reminds me of the hair on 50% of the guys in my high school class in the late 1980's. Yes, I'm old but I don't see this style much today on guys. It's still well done though!
We aren't in previous centuries. Stop acting obtuse. You know exactly what they meant, like Rob said. The entire game engine for the Sims 3 is set in modern times and the people who play other eras are not the majority by a longshot.
That's exactly why the Sims Medieval (for instance) is a separate game and not an expansion pack.
Some people do period neighborhoods. And, 'Commonly worn by men today' would have been a better description than, 'Traditional'. Words have meanings. And being specific never hurt anyone.
I love this hair. As for the texture, I don't really mind if Cazy's hairs get retextured. If this gets nubified, I'll download it, but I don't really mind the orginal.
"Sims3 Recolors / Textures freely and can included the mesh except Gift or Exclusive Items"
Got it from the ReadMe file Cazy has included.
It seems we can not retexture this one (it's a Gift).. I was about to do so, but then I read the txt file. :/ I hope that's not it, cause this hair would look even better with a retexture.
Though I'm a bit of a grammar nazi myself, pedantic anon is being a tool. Conventional is a damn near perfect synonym for traditional, and you know exactly what he meant. I'll bet you're one of those people who smugly informs others when they incorrectly use the term irony.
Anyone have a screenshot of a "normal" looking sim wearing the hair and not a thin-headed, pointed faced anime character? Hair tends to look very different on regular sim heads and not the funky-shaped ones.
Just wondering whether it's worth downloading and putting up with the huge polycount for a short hair when it looks terrible on those models (although the style itself is fine).
I said it in her post, and I'll say it again: I love this hair! ^-^
Not retexturing, if not I'll need to change the keys of all the other ages and genders meshes and... it's way too complicated and rather useless doing all that job. I'm not saying this because I think it needs a retexture, I'm saying this so people won't ask me for it :)
I don't get why people hate having a full head of hair on toddlers. I work at a grocery store and some of those kids have twice the amount of hair I do.
I think I may download this. I've been looking for something new-ish,
"I don't get why people hate having a full head of hair on toddlers. I work at a grocery store and some of those kids have twice the amount of hair I do. "
I know, I used to have a lot of hair when I was a toddler, it was really long and thick. I don't really see why some people think it's a big deal for the sims.
Because they think it's impossible and unrealistic for a toddler to have grown long, thick hair in the span of their short lives. Or something equally stupid..
Geez, not to bash Anubis or anything but this retexturing bit keeps on happening so much it makes me suspicious that he's behind this retexturing promotion. It's happened in nearly every new hair released now =="
^I don't understand why you MAC people don't install all your Sims stuff on your Windows partition and then run Boot Camp.
You know already that a lot of programs that people use for Sims stuff won't work on a MAC. So you should've done the sensible thing and installed the Sims 3 on a Windows partition and then you wouldn't be having any problems.
^Number one, Windows SUCKS! The only thing that awaits you are viruses and some slow connections.
Number two, 7z is one of the least used file extensions in the grand scheme of things. You'd think Cazy would at least try and put it up in rar file like she normally does.
Number three, why would I ever care to run bootcamp? I've only had problems with that software when I've used it before. Mac users make up a decent portion of the community, so you'd think Cazy would be a little less narrow minded when sharing files.
"sims 3 hair is more tangible than god so who cares"
They're as tangible as each other. In fact, one could argue that god (I assume you mean any diety, not just Christianity which every bitches at for some reason) is more tangible, as they make people feel intense emotion, far more than a hair ever could...
I feel as bad as the anon bitching about traditional over modern. ._.
Some anon said... "Geez, not to bash Anubis or anything but this retexturing bit keeps on happening so much it makes me suspicious that he's behind this retexturing promotion. It's happened in nearly every new hair released now ==""
No, Nubie is not behind this promotion. I keep asking for him to retexture things. I don't have a blog or anything so I usually just anon everything. I ask on pretty much all the new hair pages because I personally like his textures the best, and greedy me wants everything :)
Signed, lizbethbear the greedy lady who wants nubification on everything XD
I do and it looks great on males unlike so many stupid long hairs.
ReplyDeleteit's nice, i like it
ReplyDeleteI really like this, looks very natural
ReplyDeleteNow this is a good looking hairstyle.
ReplyDeleteI like this, but I do wish she'd separate males and females.
ReplyDeleteNo worries, though, with Cazy's hairs it's an easy fix in CTU. I do love her textures she uses, though.
Oh wait, nevermind. I spoke too soon. She obviously did separate the male and female hairs this time. My mistake.
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice looking hair and unlike 95% of other female hairs that get shoved on men, this actually looks reasonable on the guys.
ReplyDeleteI still don't get the toddlers though. Are people really playing toddlers with long, tossed, teased hair?
Also, I'm kind of wondering what the polycount is on this and if Cazy bothered to do the LOD meshes. In the past she hasn't.
Looks natural, but not on toddlers. Good thing Cazy separated everything this time.
ReplyDeleteI love it !!! and thank you for making males and kids separate i dont like my male Townies with long female style hair *^_^*
ReplyDelete^I don't either. I hate it. I do wish people would do more traditionally "masculine" styles for men, though.

ARGH. This is so pretty but I can NEVER use her hairs, the polycount is insane! T-T
ReplyDeleteWow, this hair is awesome. I even like it on the guys... wth?!
ReplyDeleteIt is alright, but what bugs me is that it depends on the face shape/width and eye distance in order for it fit properly so that it does not look like it is eating the face up, but overall I think it looks good.
ReplyDeleteOh look, the retexturefags are here
ReplyDeleteLove it! Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOMG it's my EXACT hairstlyle.
ReplyDeleteRetex plzplzplzplzplzplz.
The style and texture are perfect. Thank you Cazy.
ReplyDeleteLovely style! I don't see anything terribly wrong with the texture. It's a bit glossy, but the roots aren't terribly dark.

SERIOUSLY?
Anyway. This is nice, but I like it better from an angle than head-on. I don't really like middle parts.
Gorgeous! *downloads*
ReplyDeleteShut up, retextureanons.
ReplyDeleteIf you really want it, get off your lazy behinds and do it yourself.
"But they said, "Traditional" not "Modern" which is why I said they need to specify, what they mean by "Traditional.""
ReplyDeleteYou knew perfectly well what he meant, shorter hair is traditionally what men wear in most parts of the world.
i like this. it's very pretty and not too long
ReplyDeleteIn Modern times yes. In previous centuries No.

ReplyDeleteLol, people arguing semantics on ms3b. Why am I not surprised.

ReplyDeleteGuilty, but I blame that damn Alanis Morissette for confusing everyone one to begin with.

wow. this is based off of kylie minogue's new album, Aphrodite, good job.
