  2. Yes, except they were included with the game.

  3. Can someone edit the cowplant in some way that it's still awesome and I don't have to pay for it? I am fed up with EA glitching my game and uploads into oblivion and will not give them more money.

Also, can someone make the baby swing available for download so I don't have to pay for it?

EA has already gotten at least $300 from me and given me a lot of crap in return. Other ways for this content?

I just wanted to let you know that when you download unmodified .sims3packs, you don't have to decrapify unless you want to install them as .sims3packs. All you need to do is drag the files over s3rc (link below) and then you use Delphy's Multi-Installer to extract them as .packages. Then you can just put them in your Packages folder or combine them if you wish.

    http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15129.0.html

This is much simpler as decrapifying is irreversible and can lead to people messing up their games if they don't know what they are doing.

  11. SunsetSims is my new favorite website.

  12. Do you have to do anything funny like Decrapifying at Sunset Sims? Or can you just download whatever's there and plop it in the game straightaway? Cuz I'm not spending $6 on something that can EAT my sims.

  13. Decrapifying is not that complicated. Just back up your files before doing anything, and there won't be any problems (I do it all the time)

    ReplyDelete
  14. ^No, but Pescado has warned that decrapified files are not to be shared and do have the potential to mess up games. Nine out of 10 complaints on MATY are because people don't decrapify correctly. Those who are unfamiliar with things could save themselves a lot of trouble if they just recompressed and ripped out the packages. Recompressing leaves no room for error because all it does is remove the EA protection.

Also, whenever the regulars at MATY have reported fences missing or other parts of store sets getting borked with decrapify, mine were always showing up because I just recompressed. They had to wait until he updated the decrapify tool. I never have to do that since I don't decrapify.

  15. I love when people think decrapifying is hard and that it messes up your game.

One benefit of using decrapped simpacks is when EA pulls some shit (ala changing items with Pets), simpacks aren't damaged unlike packages.

    ReplyDelete
  16. ^ yeah but some premium content are known to "break" after decrapifying, like the pet register and I think the spellbook needed a separate fix if you decrapified it. And package files were easily fixable after grants tool was released.

    ReplyDelete
  17. ...Why wasn't this included in an expansion pack? Oh, right, because EA wants more of our money. Which would be maybe reasonable if it didn't involve paying for glitchy content the developers shat out as fast as possible for a game that hardly works.

Time to head over to MATY!

  18. "^ yeah but some premium content are known to "break" after decrapifying, like the pet register and I think the spellbook needed a separate fix if you decrapified it. And package files were easily fixable after grants tool was released."

Exactly. Decrapifying isn't hard if you know what you're doing, but many people do not and that's why they screw up their games. However, Pescado has still warned that you should NEVER share decrapified files because doing so has the potential to break other people's games.

He should know since he made the tool. If you're fine decrapifying, then continue to do so but don't recommend others do it right off the bat unless you know they are fairly knowledgeable about things and won't screw it up.

  19. The only things that have broken when decrapping simpacks was the hidden springs thing, spellbook, and pets register.... which ALL BROKE even in PACKAGE form. And was then promptly fixed by dropping a fixed package in the mod folder for all. that was 3 items out of how many?

Unless you've actually experienced decrapping installed simpacks screw up somehow, don't spread misinformation

    ReplyDelete
  20. SO HAPPY TO SEE THE COWPLANT :'D

And why are people complaining? There are other means aside from the TS3 store *shifty eyes*

    ReplyDelete
  21. ^Actually, the package format of the spellbook did not require a fix BEFORE the hidden springs fountain was released, the decrapified sims3pack did. After the fountain was released, it borked everyone's spellbook, even those who used legit store items, so you're point is rather irrelevant. The pet register did not break if you installed it in package format, confirmed by many posters on the MATY forums. If you have read through the forums, you'll see that the top posters have switched over to using package format. There is nothing wrong with using decrapified items as long as you decrapify it yourself

    ReplyDelete
  22. "The only things that have broken when decrapping simpacks was the hidden springs thing, spellbook, and pets register.... which ALL BROKE even in PACKAGE form."

No, they did not. I have NEVER decrapified in my life and my register and spellbook worked 100% correctly by just recompressing. I did not have to download and install any fix for either. I didn't download Hidden Springs, so I won't comment on that.

No one is spreading misinformation. We've been spreading facts. YOU are the only one spreading misinformation.

  23. Not complaining.
*Just glad they released it and risked it being available to the public by other means*

    1) Also I don't care what's not in the expansion packs anymore, I care about how much is actually in them.

    2) When I've decrapified, I've never had any problems, but I haven't used it in a while and the recompressing thing doesn't sound that complicated. Everyone should have s3pe installed anyway for compressing package files into one file for better performance. (I don't have the delphy thing though, just dashboard.)

  24. "The pet register did not break if you installed it in package format, confirmed by many posters on the MATY forums. If you have read through the forums, you'll see that the top posters have switched over to using package format."

Thank you. There is proof of this in several posts on MATY.

  25. I prefer to turn these files into packages myself simply because when I decrapify them, for some odd reason they tend to disappear after awhile. The package files never do.

So glad to see the cowplant! I so must have!

  26. Am I the only one who didn't like this cow at all back in TS2?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Love this! And thank you so much Anubis for the link!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I've downloaded only the CowPlant.sim3pack from MATY and made it a package but I can't find it in my game. Where is it supposed to be? Or it just doesn't shows up?

    ReplyDelete
  29. One benefit of decrapifying over just recompressing is that you can get all store content to show up in downloaded lots, regardless of if the creator used decrapped or non-decrapped (i.e. legit or package) items, as long as you decrap the lot first. (This has been true since Pescado updated S3RC in July.) If you have non-decrapped store files, the items will only show up if the creator used non-decrapped files; if the creator did use decrapped files, they will be replaced with base game shit for you.

However, this is only relevant if you are primarily a downloader. If you like to share your lots, it's probably better to use non-decrapped stuff, unless you only have/care about the decrapping audience.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I never decrapify my stuff and all of it shows up fine in my game.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Download .Sims3Pack:
    www.downs-sims3.com.br

    ReplyDelete
  32. If you are using sims3packs, then they have to be decrapified to be installed, unless you are buying them from the store yourself. If you are downloading from sites like SunsetSims, they are pre-decrapified before you download them. The only place you can be sure that has un-decrapified store sims3packs is MATY (well, and the EA Store, obviously).

If you are using non-decrapped packages, then chances are you're just downloading lots from creators who use legit store stuff (or non-decrapped packages). Also, I have noticed that a lot of house creators use a mix of decrap and non-decrap stuff, so if only one or two of items don't show up, it's difficult to notice (and not really a big deal).

Not getting into the sims3pack vs. package debate for store stuff (for CC, I say definitely package). There are advantages and disadvantages to both methods, just pointing them out.

Me, I like using decrapped sims3packs because I only download lots and don't share, plus I want all my store crap to have store icon in game since I have some CC and I find it easier to filter all that crap. Haven't had any issues with them at all (*knocks wood*; you have to with anything in this game).

Obviously, there are advantages to using non-decrapped package files: don't have to use the damn launcher, don't have to decrap lots you download before putting them in your library, better for sharing, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I don't need weird stuff in my game. I won't get this even if it were free. Too much nerdy going on.

    ReplyDelete
  34. "Am I the only one who didn't like this cow at all back in TS2?"

Nope. I'm with 9:14, too. I'll skip this one, free or not.

    ReplyDelete
  35. "If you are using non-decrapped packages, then chances are you're just downloading lots from creators who use legit store stuff (or non-decrapped packages)."

True. I've never had any issues because I only recompress. So when some other people at MATY couldn't get store lot content to show up properly (if they had decrapified), I always could because I hadn't. Whenever I download a lot, all the items show up in game because I just recompressed the entire set (lot and content included).

"If you are downloading from sites like SunsetSims, they are pre-decrapified before you download them."

No one should even ever be uploading lots with decrapified content in the first place, so it shouldn't even be an issue. I don't know how many times Pescado and others have to warn about this - you are not supposed to ever share decrapified files.

    http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15129.msg518282.html#msg518282

    THEREFORE:
Do not share decrapified packages, only share original unmodified packages.

  36. Whenever I try to extract it (sunsetsims link) I get a message that says "the security id may not be assigned as the owner of this object" o.0

What am I doing wrong? :(

  37. I converted this set to .package files and put them in my packages folder but now my game won't load. I always give up after waiting 30 minutes for it to load the town. This is whether I start a new file or use an existing save file which I know works.

    What gives? :/

I take the store content back out of my packages file and my game goes back to loading in five minutes.

    Help!

Are you updated to patch 1.29? I know they say you need update 1.5 on the Store page but I found out once that some of my content wouldn't work because I wasn't updated to the latest patch (around the time when the Sharper Sim massage chair was released). My game loaded but it slowed everything down to a dead crawl and buy mode wouldn't work. Once I updated, everything was fine.

Also, did you remember to run the .sims3pack(s) over s3rc before extracting them as packages? And are you sure you downloaded the unmodified .sims3pack (MATY) and not a decrapified one (SunsetSims)?

    ReplyDelete
  43. What's more confusing than your posts is why so many people want this cow plant. I really don't get it.
