I knew they would keep the talented ones from releasing any good hairs til the Workshop was updated. Ulksren (sp.) or Ulker is talented, loved her Sims 2 clothes, and I like this hair. Can't wait for it come up on the booty.
Wow! Looks just like the other side donut hair a couple downloads down, but this looks better. Oh well I don't feel like deleting the other one and getting this, and I don't want 2 of the same kind if hairstyles, so I'm going to skip out on this one.
this hair is free, since this is version 2 of an ulkr hair, every one who wasnt a subscriber on tsr was asking for version 1 to be free but they didnt make it free (luckily a link from rapidshare was posted by a reader in the comments section of this blog for the Version 1 post) and even tho this hair looks great...i am really wondering if i am the only one who experienced an unusual avatar glitch in game, basically i gave a teen this hair, when i got out of CAS, the teen i gave the hair to, instead of having the bun on her head like she should have, she had a very choppy medium length hair on her head. has any one else experienced this? would like to know before i report it on tsr
And you know why it's free? 'cause it's missing a LOD! When you zoom out it'll look like another hair!
So Just like the party hair this hair is: 1) first pay 2) the missing LOD is discovered: hair is set to free 3) New version uploaded: the flaw is repaired => ZAM! PAY.
So don't expect the updated version to be free, unless you believe in Santa Claus (or Antonella posting it here! :)
I've actually experienced this with several different downloads from TSR, all different creators. Not sure if it stems from their tool or what. Anyway, whenever you zoom out, the CC looks totally different. Pretty annoying, actually.
Oh dang I already downloaded and installed before reading the comments - I guess I just won't use this hair on any of my Sims. That sucks. I've had other custom hairs do the same thing (look really odd when you zoom out) and I can't stand it.
I wonder if this missing LOD was even an accident. Heck, it's easy enough to fix. Just open up S3PE extract the files make another LOD with Milkshape, do all the necessary data etc. then re-import it into DABOOBS. Unless TSR does it in a complete different way and you can't open it :/. I'm gonna look into it, because I like this hair.
LOD is short for level of detail. All hair has four LODs, or versions of the same mesh varying in polygon count. The game independently switches between these meshes to keep down processing and if not properly done, will cause issues.
If the hair is transforming into different hair on zoom out or the thumbnail for the sim does not reflect the hair at all, it's because the LODs are not properly done.
The hair is supposedly fixed, but based on the last comment, it's safe to assume that the creator did not invest the time in making lower LODs look decent, causing the hair in the sim thumbnail to look crappy.
I can't get this to uninstall. I didn't like it in game, so I uninstalled it through the launcher, but the next time I played, it was still in CAS. I wish there was some way to delete cc in game like we could in TS2. It made things so much easier.
The original hair made my game crash but when I uninstalled it and reinstalled the fixed hair the crashing stopped. And the fixed hair looks great in game.
Krystan, to uninstall you have to go to Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Downloads. That is where all the downloads installed through the Launcher are. Delete the file from that folder and it will be gone from your game :D
So..TSR are finally making decent hair.
ReplyDeletetbh, I don't like it. That little circle in the bangs kills it for me. ^^;
ReplyDeleteA good hair at TSR? That's new. But I also don't like that little patch by the hairline. Still rather nice...
ReplyDeleteI'm actually surprised. It looks..nice. Weird. And the model ~isn't~ horrifyingly skellator-looking? Woah.

ReplyDelete@#5....i's free on the TSR, they are making this hair free for all the people. I guess to make them feel as they can get the quality without paying.

ReplyDeletewhat is LOD anyway?
ReplyDeleteThe Star wars bun doesn't work for me :(

ReplyDeleteHey! Thomas said to keep the view zoomed in and you won't have a problem. Haha, what a nut.

The thumbnails are messed up and that`s the main reason i`m uninstalling it at this moment..
ReplyDeletethis hair style blew me away, but it ended up being a really blocky, ugly, torn away version of the default hairs. It only works in CAS. So upset!
ReplyDeleteIt works for me in game play.
ReplyDeleteBut in my sims little photo at the side of the screen it looks all deformed..

It was meant to not have sense idiot.
ReplyDeleteYou ruined everything.
looks goooooood for me. new fave hair.
ReplyDeleteIt`s been fixed
ReplyDeleteSo now the hair you get at TSR comes in 3 options..
ReplyDelete1)God-damn-fugly default messed up.
2)Free, nice looking & good quality but turns out glitch filled which makes you want to delete it asfter your sim comes out from CAS.
3)Stylish and high quality..but you gotto pay for it.

ReplyDeleteWhen I put this in my game, I tried putting it on a sim but it came out of cas looking like a base game hair that had been attacked by scissors :/
ReplyDeleteDoes not work for me anyway at all.
Surprisingly good for a TSR hair.
ReplyDeleteThe original hair made my game crash but when I uninstalled it and reinstalled the fixed hair the crashing stopped. And the fixed hair looks great in game.
