Could you give them a more boring and uninformative title? These are candles with ANIMATED flames that took a very very long time and lots of work to make. They're a very impressive project.
There's even smoke when the candles are put out, and they're the very first multi-flame candles made so far!
"Candles by Sunhair" just doesn't begin to express what these are. These are a big-ass deal, guys, give credit where it is due.
Shivar, dear, when Peggy releases a hair, the title isn't "Amazing new free hair from peggy with a perfect style that your Sims will love. There are also no black roots, so you can't complain this time bitches!" Does he? If he did put ridiculously informative and slightly biased titles on everything but this, then you'd be okay to complain, but he doesn't. These are Candles these are by Sunhair. Regardless of how good they are.
^ Exactly, anon. That comment by Shivar was completely random and probably one of the more stupid things he's said lately.
There are plenty of other creators who give their content simple titles but I've not seen him go out if his way to complain about them.
Just because these are animated candles doesn't mean sunhair has to be arrogant about it and have some contrived flashy title.
Another thing, the animation is based off pre-existing animations from the insence candles we already have in our games, it's nothing to completely flip shit about.
Yeah, they look great but it's stupid to complain about the name. It's not supposed to be called "Candles with ANIMATED Flames That Took a Very Very Very Long Time To Make" or something like that. That would just make you sound egoistical.
"He didn't say anyone was deriding it, he said the title didn't cause a drumroll and that was disappointing. Read again."
I think you may be the one who misunderstood. He stated that people should "give credit where credit was due," yet all the comments consisted of people admiring Sunhair's work. It seemed like an odd thing to say since everyone was giving Sunhair credit.
Guy? The people I am referring to are the people running this site. As evidenced by how I'm talking about the *title of the post*? It isn't updated automatically by fucking robots. I know, it's very surprising!
When a mod is posted that has a description with important information, that information is posted. When a world is posted with a description that has important information, that information is posted. There is no excuse not to mention in the title/post that these candles are animated, the first multi-flame candles for the game, and have scripted FX on them for when they are blown out.
It's unfair to sunhair to go "here are some candles" and not explain what is so special about them.
Actually, no, I didn't. I said, "He didn't say anyone was deriding it, he said the title didn't cause a drumroll and that was disappointing." He wanted a more dramatic title. That's it. That's what he said, and it's what I repeated for someone who didn't read his original comment closely enough.
I don't necessarily agree or disagree with him, I was just clarifying his comment to someone who thought he was accusing others of derision.
"It's unfair to sunhair to go "here are some candles" and not explain what is so special about them."
It's unfair to Shyne to not say his hairs have a special control which people may find interesting. It's unfair to the creator of Los Aniegos for the title not to say "SERIOUSLY, BEST WORLD SINCE NEVERGLADE". By your logic, it's unfair to every fucking creator on this site, because it doesn't have a paragraph long title saying "HOLY SHIT GUYS, I CAN'T FUCKING BELIEVE SOMEONE'S RELEASED THIS, I'M GONNA GO MASTURBATE OVER IT NOW".
By complaining the title isn't "Really intelligently created candles which have many flames and produce smoke and look really great, oh and by sunhair, download or your game suxx" makes you look silly, Shitvar. ESPECIALLY, when the candle's actual title on the site is actually just "December 19.2010 Sunhair's TS3 Gifts".
I'm inclined to complain the title of this post should be "December 19.2010 Sunhair's TS3 Gifts - Candles" as that's the closest to what Sunhair released it as.
Shivar said... Guy? The people I am referring to are the people running this site. As evidenced by how I'm talking about the *title of the post*?
And interestingly, not only did MS3B not have a problem with your comment; he graciously changed the title of the posted item to reflect it. If he wasn't bothered by it why should anyone else be?
Also, it's not just Sunhair's work. She made the candles, that's true, but it was Granthes script mod that made them so "revolutionary" in the first place. So honestly, if it's "not fair" to Sunhair, it's even less fair to Granthes that nobody here is whining about HIM not getting credit in this thread. (Sunhair gave him credit in her post, I'm not saying otherwise.)
I agree that a more descriptive post title was called for, but I think all this "NOT FAIR" stuff is a little excessive.
I think Shivar was right. I also think the owner of the site was very nice to change the title to something more appropriate once Shivar had pointed out the lack of adequate description. Smiles all around. I agree with the post right above mine too.
"Guy? The people I am referring to are the people running this site. As evidenced by how I'm talking about the *title of the post*?"
Except that your statement includes "guys," plural. That's likely where the confusion surfaced from. If you were speaking to Joe directly, it would have made sense to include his name.

OMG THIS.
The whole "fairness" bit was whiny and obnoxious. Neither Sunhair nor Granthes complained. Maybe the title needed to be more descriptive (which it now is), but the issue of fairness was just over the top. Nobody got hurt, and everyone who actually downloaded the item had a chance to read what they were from the dl page. So calm down.

And here I was about to whine that all GOS knew how to make was candles. Thanks for the heads-up.

ReplyDeleteWere some comments deleted or something? Because I don't see anybody deriding it.
Also, I'm thrilled that Sunhair decided to cut down on other CC used in the pictures. It was a little distracting.
These are beautiful, Sunhair, thanks for sharing!
I really like the ones in the candlesticks.

These are very nice. I already had the advent ones so I'm very excited to see more.
^I mean, the earlier advent ones, from the 10th or something.

Great looking candles! I'm very appreciative of the creator sharing these.

He thinks the title isn't descriptive enough, other people don't. WWIII!

The first set does not have wicks and therefore don't look all that realistic unless they are lit.
ReplyDeleteDid Shivar seriously throw a nuclear fit over the admin not putting 'OMG ANIMATED' in the blog post? Seriously?
ReplyDeleteGet help, Shivar. There's way more to life than animated candles from a game.
