I agree with first anon; people photo-skin their content to make it realistic, but that just makes it look out of place on the cartoonish Sims. I mean, look at their face, then look at their clothes. Just say no to photo-skinning!
As the anon above said, by taking the extra time and doing extra meshing. I don't know if you've seen sentates clothes for sims 2 on modthesims, but those are amazing creations and she does meshing. Not photo-skinning. If we can do this is in the sims 2, then we SHOULD be able to do it in sims 3. Even if it is more difficult.
enough with the comparisons to sims 2 already!!! This is sims 3, this stuff looks good in game and thats what matters! if this is the creators way of doing things for now let them do it that otherwise, dont bother downloading her creations. I for one like it. If you like sims 2 so much go back to the sims 2.
That's purely subjective. Personally, I think the pants looks awful because, as another anon said, they look very realistic on a not-so-realistic Sim. Should we all really revert to Sims 2 because we happen to be a bit pickier than you? I believe our criticisms are more helpful than your mindless bleating.
I'm apparently the only person in the entire world who doesn't mind photoskinned stuff. I think the style here is cute. Light years better than those dresses.
There's no reason to compare it to TS2-- there are plenty of talented creators for TS3 that handpaint their clothes, like Lili and AAS. In contrast, their creations fit much better in the game than photoskinned clothing.
It's certainly doable, as many creators do it already. It just falls down to personal choice and time. Tomislaw's work certainly isn't bad, but I do tend to lean towards handpainted clothes for the reasons already given.
I don't mind photoskinned clothes either, actonthat, but I am picky about how it is done. This isn't my cup of tea, but I do like some of Tomislaw's stuff, and other creator's work that uses photoskinning. Sometimes it looks really good...sometimes not. I think one of the things that really ruins it is when the contrast between light and dark areas is too sharp. It ends up looking very odd to me.
Thank you all for criticism. I teach and I must admit that I was making heavy pants. However, since I can not find some useful tutorials that helped me look better, I am forced to learn through independent. I personally like a mirror on the clothing mesh. Finally! The choice is yours: to use or not of my creation.
I'm not a big fan of photoskinning, but I disagree any necessarily any easier or quicker.
Sentates looks as though she/he "lifted" ea textures and rearranged them for the sims 2 stuff. Her source material was different but the basic technique is the same as photoskinning. The meshes also look to be edits of ea meshes not original.
The absolutely best looking textures are made with pricey 3d software with cloth plugins. They also probably take the least amount of time the software does the work.
Thanks for your reply. I thought obviously doing something wrong because of such criticism. Maybe because they do not create the EA style. But if there are useful instructions or tutorials, I am ready to accommodate you.
^It's definitely not only you, so try not to be offended. People who really don't like photoskinning tend not to like it no matter who's using it. Like I said, I don't mind photoskinning, when it's done right.
Tomoslaw, it's definitely not just you-- several creators photoskin. Some people really passionately hate photoskinning. I like my CC to be as realistic as possible (and I don't really understand the "it should be cartoony!" position, because everyone seems to like all other types of CC to be realistic), so I don't mind it at all when it's done nicely. (Incidentally, that's why I never download Poppy's stuff, even though I like her and think it's well done-- it's to EA for me.)
I'm personally tired of Photo-skinned clothing. I would much rather the sweater be meshed as a real sweater. I know that takes time and a lot of work.
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of your tiredness! SECOND!
ReplyDeleteI agree with first anon; people photo-skin their content to make it realistic, but that just makes it look out of place on the cartoonish Sims. I mean, look at their face, then look at their clothes. Just say no to photo-skinning!
ReplyDeleteThen how else would you suggest making clothes?

ReplyDeleteWell, photoskinned or not- this one's alot better than the last dress.

this looks rally bad ingame

Sorry for my English. :D
I think it's cute :-)

Why do you photoskinning so annoying?
ReplyDeleteWhat's the difference? Me personally do not like EA style because lacks the style and detail.
@Poppy, thank you very much. :)
I forgot:
ReplyDeleteWhether Liana Sims, AnnaSims, AdelyneSims3 or similar creators used photoskinning or problem is only me?
I don't find it a problem. Saying you don't like the detail of clothes is like saying you don't want detailed Hair, Skins, Furniture, etc.
ReplyDeleteAnons compare TS3 to cartoons, but then shouldn't all the CC be cartoonish as well in order for them to be happy?
Meshing can be very hard, and why bother if there are already meshes you can use?
Thanks for your reply.
