The person who owns ATS3 is a really nice person and she has had some difficulty with her ISP lately. She was asking her regular customers to help a little. I mean..ALL of her stuff is free but if you donate just a little, you can download everything in one file. That is all. She is not making you pay for her stuff. I have no problem donating money to help someone pay for their own website. If you have a problem with this, then fine. But to make fun of her is really lame. This is a FREE site with very good quality items. Grow up! She doesn't have to make this stuff but she does and I know she gets great satisfaction from those who appreciate her creations..and I don't mean give her money, I mean enjoy the items.

I mean they way they look. They don't really match the game exactly, like they're made from existing models or something. Like if you took a Sims 3 object and put it into GTA4, it'd look off.
I disagree with Claeric, as usual. I use a lot of the sets from ATS and I think they look just fine and totally normal in the game. They're not out of place or odd looking next to EA items or other CC. The screenshots provided on the site demonstrate this for me.
Why, I agree with shivar, I left some ATS objects untouched because I had the same feeling. It's usually stronger when I look at the pictures, ingame they are pretty fine with all these texture and colour variations. And yes, it is still high quality and I love most of them. But I see what shivar means.

Maybe you need to quit silly guessing. It has nothing to do with that. Some people are more picky/meticulous/call it what you want, than others. But that's not whining.
I am meticulous and they genuinely do not look "off" to me. It is well known that newer items can look worse on older or out-of-date kit so it is a reasonable suggestion and not a silly one.
Perhaps you should take the time to describe exactly what you mean and write and let her know what could be done to improve her creations if you really think there is something to improve there. Better to do that than to nit-pick uselessly over here imo.
I play my game at the highest settings and I find NOTHING off with regard to her items. They are very well done and look fantastic in the game. They look much better than much of the CC content released and just as good, if not better than EA items.
I really think some people just are not happy unless they can put others down. Its a blog comment section full of bullies. Shivar/Claeric is the leader. He has a list of people and places he likes and he kisses their you-know-what constantly and the rest, no matter how nice, no matter how much they try, and no matter how free they make their items, he has to blast them. He should just leave the community and just use EA stuff if he is so negative.
What is really sad is how many people follow him like lemmings.
I'm so glad Sandy is making more of her awesome stuff. I literally had everything she made for Sims 2 and at least half of what she made for Sims 1. Her items have always added class and presence to my game. I even attempted to use her style sense when I redecorated my bathroom, based on her Ethnic Bathroom from Sims 2.
For donation items, I am opposed to paying for pixels. Sandy, however, states that the money is used solely for the upkeep of her site. In fact one donation gives you access for LIFE to the donation objects - or at least it did when it was for Sims 2.
I think they look lovely, and I'm considering donating as well to support such a lovely site. This is my OWN CHOICE. I am not forced to buy any donation sets, just given a few tiny benefits if I do donate.

As a personal preference, clearly it's fine, but it isn't really a real issue with the objects or the mesher, like "the texturing is badly done" or "the meshes are clunky" or anything that is something more objective and useful as a criticism.

Second of all, no kidding it doesn't match the game perfectly, it's CC!!! Their stuff matches the game much more than lots of other objects in my opinion so why complain about this and not other objects? There aren't many maxis match object meshers.
Everything that I have ever downloaded at ATS has always been very low-poly, and when the objects are in game *most* items look just fine.
However, there have been plenty of times when an item has been so low-poly, so poorly colored/textured, that it looks cartoonish... like something you would have seen in a Playstation game - as in, the PS generation numero uno, the first one.
Take that newspaper stand offered in this current set, for instance. It's just a couple of straight lines and a cube with straight edges. The bus shelter is in a similar style. And when you see these items next to the Velib' Stand/Station or the firehydrant, they look like they were modeled in different 3D software, or even by different artists altogether.
All of this makes sense when you consider that 80% of the objects on ATS are totally superfluous in terms of gameplay and are never even interacted with. They're decorations that you'd miss if they weren't there, but after they've been placed you rarely give them a second glance - and that is what they are supposed to do. Would you really want to load up you game with tons of high-poly 3d models of knicknacks and deco that you rarely even focus your attention on?
But to act as though all of the things at ATS are perfectly crafted masterpieces of solid gold... is horseshit.
