This is a pack of mods that makes the game harder and more game-like. I've released each of these before, but these ones are newer, updated, and slightly tweaked from before.
The pack includes:
-Devastating Burglaries
Simply put, this mod makes burglars much more devastating. They steal more and are more likely to spawn. Read on for more details.
-Higher Taxes
In a nutshell, this part of the pack makes bills more expensive. They still come twice a week, but you are now billed for 5% of the household value (2.5% with each new bill), instead of only 1.3%. Please read the other bullets to learn just what this means.

MORE burglaries?? It happens way too often as-is.
ReplyDeleteUnless of course, your sims live in a war-laden ghetto.
Burglaries by default only have a 2.5% chance of happening, and they can only happen once every 4 days. They're not really very common at all.
ReplyDeleteThis doesn't realy make *more*, it just makes it more likely. With each burglary there won't be another for AT LEAST 10 days.
So you get a burglary. For the next 10 days, there is a 0% chance of a burglar. On the 11th day, the chance goes back to 5% (+1% for every 10,000 simoleons of household value). So it could be weeks before another shows up. Once another shows up, there's another 10 days of 0% chance of a burglar. Repeat.
Some people are getting burglaries a lot and others don't. In my case it always happen like 2 days after my sims move to the house, and then randomly. So I'm good.
ReplyDeleteI used to have some cars parked out in front of my sims' house as if there were guests or family over, but burglars kept coming and stealing them without ever going inside so I had to get rid of them. Sucky. But usually the female sim will get in fisticuffs with the burglar before they take anything, ha!
ReplyDeleteI should download this just so she can beat people up more often.
I'll be trying all of these, for sure.
ReplyDeleteOne of the main reasons I start new families often but rarely play past 2nd or 3rd generation of a family is because there's pretty much zero challenge by that point. So this looks promising.
Thanks, Shivar.
i, for one, accept your challenge.
ReplyDeleteyeah, alot of this looks really cool. the only thing I find off is the increased chance of burglary with the higher the household value. Where I come from rich people aren't getting robbed, that is a rarity. but in the poor neighborhoods people get robbed left and right, and sometimes its the same person getting robbed all the time. so I think if this mod was reversed it would be more realistic. the lower the household value, the more likely to get robbed
ReplyDeleteHeh. I have a couple of sims who could use being more miserable. After all, the games not any fun if they're all rich and happy with no problems.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't use this, but cool.
ReplyDeleteSM challenge ;D well, I wouldn't use this too, but I like your creativity :)
ReplyDeleteI really like this idea, Shivar, thank you :) But the way that I personally make my game harder is to hard more kids... and no funds to support them. The more sims you have the harder it is to keep track lol Good job, I like it when people think outside the square :)
ReplyDeleteis there any chance of getting the more expensive alarm as a default replacement?
ReplyDeletethis is where shivar/claeric has shot himself in the foot - he's been SUCH a douchebag that i'd never support his creations by downloading them, even if the burglary thing does sound kinda neat. it's really too bad, but it's like buying blood diamonds lolol
ReplyDeleteGood idea, but I agree that the higher burglary risk with lower household value is more realistic. Low household value sort-of implies a lacking in security systems, easier target, and possibly crime-ridden area to live in. Plus, it would make the game SUPER-hard because then players working from minimum funds upwards will have a harder time getting poor Sims richer :)
