It's nice but the wood texture appears as if it has been encased in a thick layer of plastic when in-game. Only the supplied wood pattern looks decent. A shame because it's a nice set and well built but Madaya's earlier work (windows and doors) was *much* better.

Every object (exept the sectional seats) with wood texture has a second texture option without shine for people who don't like the shiny texture.
"but the wood texture appears as if it has been encased in a thick layer of plastic when in-game."
Really? I have NEVER heard of anything like that. How weird and unprofessional. Now, watch. I'll bet you that the creator is going to make up some fake fancy term for that ugly shine. Something like...laquer, or finish.
@Ayaa Have you read my answer above??? There is a second texture option without shine on any furniture except the sections seats...
I am a lotbuilder since Sims 1 was released and since I have started creating objects I personally create stuff that I want to have for ME for creating lots that I want to have. I like this shiny texture and so my objects come with this shine. For all other who don't like it they can use the other texture option...
My guess is that neither of the naysayers have been in or seen a newer trailer/caravan/winnebago. Most of the built-in furniture has a similar shine or lacquer to it. It's not real wood, it's laminate.
Thanks Madaya, for all of the caravan sets and for the non-shiny option.
I love all of your caravan sets! Thank you so much for your effort, Madaya! @JSR_Julie: Ich stimme Dir voll und ganz zu! Dieses ständige, undankbare Gemecker kotzt mich an!
I'm glad to see this - while I'll definitely use it without shine, the shiny ones will work perfectly for my spaceship lots. But especially thank you for a double bed that can be placed against a wall!
you are all but an ungrateful people. She sits for months on the set and you have nothing else to do than to complain to you. If you would like it better, then it makes itself, but to you are not able to. Everything you want only the very best and it's free. For such it would be worth actually having to make all things pay. But then you would complain about you again. I can Madaya only advise you to ignore all and just continue as before.
Perhaps EA can fix this damn moodlet bug... so that is not the fault by the creators... Sorry. ;) I do not play very often. Next time I'll choose better beds. But I have no plan on making beds in near future.
I have tested (again) another texture. I choose a lighter one (made by Angela) and imo this looks much better then mine. A darker texture will increase the shine effect, a lighter one will decrease the shine.
Thanks for replying, Madaya. The shine took away the versatility of the pieces for me and I was quite disappointed when I wrote my post here. I didn't notice the non-shiny version until you pointed it out and you may be happy to know that I have have tried and tested it in my game and it does look much better. Still a tad too shiny in dark woods as you say but nice enough to use for sure. I tested with EA wood textures as well as other CC creators in the community.
I still love your work - the ideas and the furniture are great. Please don't be put off creating! I hope you continue to create and still hope to see your work anywhere but TSR.
@JSR_Julie: My post was not a complaint it was constructive criticism or feedback if you prefer to think of it that way. Thanks for participating with the honest Sims community and I hope that the next time you step outside of the TSR wall you will be a bit more understanding.
"Perhaps EA can fix this damn moodlet bug... so that is not the fault by the creators... Sorry. ;)"
Actually, although there is a bug, people were talking about a separate issue with cheap beds getting cloned--this issue has persisted before the other bug people are talking about. While it is in EA's coding that cheaper beds give bad moodlets, it is up to the creators to avoid cloning those beds which give bad moodlets.
"@Ayaa Have you read my answer above??? There is a second texture option without shine on any furniture except the sections seats..."
I'm sorry, I was using sarcasm in that comment. I was pointing out that the "unprofessional shininess" the other person was criticising could easily be explained as a laquer on the wood.
@Ayaa, yes it could be explained away if the default option looked like wood polish or even varnish but what it looked like was plastic-encased wood when viewed in Sims day-light in my game (all details maxed). The best option for anyone who does not want that look is the second option (thank you to Madaya who pointed that out here) and, as I said above, I'm happy with the results. Thank you anyway.

FI have cloned the BedDoubleModern (1500 simoleons) and BedSingleModern (950 simoleons). Why do such modern beds give bad moodlets? Don't understand EA... Is there a list which beds are (actually) good beds? Can someone give me a link, please?

Julie is a good friend of me and I complained to her about Aaya's comment that makes me really angry ('cause I don't see the sarcasm). She only wants to defent me and my creations. Thank you Julie (and all others too)! :) So this had nothing to do with your comment. ;) She also has an own blog outside TSR where she offers some lots. ;) (Sadly she actually is not inspired enough to build some new houses :()
Glad that the second option is ok for you.
@Aaya Sorry that I did not notice that your comment was sarcasm. I'm sorry!
That's one rich caravan.

ReplyDeleteWill be removing this and hoping for an update.
^Really? I was excited because those bunks looked great and like 'real' bunks, not like floating beds. Oh well.

Now I can make really awesome bunk bed for my twin boys! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad this creator isn't pay yet, but they probably will be anyday now.

I'm happy to finally have this set, but I wish Madaya had cloned better beds. Maybe next time?
ReplyDeleteAlso, the shine doesn't really appear if you play with advanced rendering off.

I think it's very pretty and diferent. I will love to see more diverse stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wonderfull set and don't go pay, please. :)

ReplyDeleteI have to disagree. There's no justification for going pay.
Everyone here thinks Madaya is an awesome creator, and this set is no exception.

ReplyDeleteThe "BedSingleModern" only gives Energy: 5, StressRelief: 3, Environment: 2.
BedDoubleModern - Energy 6, StressRelief: 3, Environment:2.
If I were you, I would clone something a bit higher.
The double beds which give Energy Levels of 8 and up are:
BedDoubleColonial - Energy: 8, StressRelief: 3, Environment: 5
BedDoubleLuxury - Energy: 8, StressRelief: 3, Environment: 3
BedDoubleContemporary - Energy: 10, Stress Relief: 3, Environment: 5
The single beds which give Energy Levels of 8 and up are:
BedSingleColonial - Energy: 8, StressRelief: 3, Environment: 4
I got all these values from s3oc and only listed the base game beds.
Thank you so much, you have a great collection!!
