I did it last night and my game runs like it did before I had any CC at all. I have 1,075 packages merged into 5 files. Load and save time is under a minute.
I tried following that tutorial, but it didn't work for me. So now I'm having to delete most of the cc I downloaded for the game. I'd try to add a few files and I'd get an error message about being out of memory even though I have 3GB of RAM and it shouldn't be running out just from running that one program. I was going post a comment on that tutorial to ask for help, but I couldn't figure out how to post there (it was telling me to buy an account or something?) and I tried asking in the S3PE section of MTS forums, but it was locked and I was told to ask where the tutorial was posted. So, unfortunately, it looks like I won't get any help. :(
I wish I knew more about the technical aspect of the process. I can't really help you with what might have gone wrong there.
The first time I tried to save my merged package the application froze up and when I opened the task manager to shut it down,it had a huge memory leak. (I have 4GB of RAM so there's no reason it should have done this to me either.) I restarted my computer and shut off all unnecessary programs running in the background. Once that was done, it worked, but it took a long time to save. I just walked away for about 20 minutes. When I came back it was finished and I didn't have any other problems with the rest of my merging.
Very nice! Though about at my limit for adding .package files :(
ReplyDeleteYAY! We getting closer to glass floor tiles!
ReplyDeleteYou should check out Aikea Guinea's tutorial for combining .package files into larger files.
